What causes everything to not work in the dash?

First, you can check the fuse box for a blown fuse that powers the dash lights/gauges. Fuses are labeled and are easy to see if it is good or blown. Blown fuses will be missing the metal arch inside the plastic case. Or look for a disconnected or corroded ground wire, especially if there was ever a water/coolant leak under the dash area and floor. Chasing missing grounds can be expensive.

I need to find out wher and how to fix the fuse on the front dash light

If you do not know where the fuse is, how do you know it needs "fixing"?
If your dash lights are not working, there is a possibility that there is a blown fuse. However, you need to realize that blown fuses do not cause electrical problems. Electrical problems cause blown fuses. So if you replace the fuse, it will likely just blow again if you do not fix the problem that caused it to blow.

On the other hand, there are several other things that could be keeping your dash lights from working that has absolutely nothing to do with the fuse.

With all that said, the fuse that protects your dash light circuits is a 7.5 Amp fuse that is located in the Instrument Panel Junction Block at the left side of the dash. It is marked "PANEL"

Replaced fuse on my 2001 for taurus and heat and lights on dash are out. what could be the problem?

maybe you replaced the wrong fuse. or the dash light bulbs are blown, not very likely that all blown at once so you may have only replaced the wrong fuse. if you do not have fuse location, then check them all. under dash drivers side fuse panel. you'r main engine fuses are located under the hood but have nothing to do with your dash lights. hope this helps and thank you for choosing

The odds are the one fuse is blown for the dash and the tail lights. And the wrong bulb may have been put in for the brake light. The brake light is feeding back into the tail light circuit causing the fuse to blown out.

Change out the bulbs with OEM bulbs and replace the blown fuse. That should fix the problem.
