You have either no power to the transmission solenoids, or you have a problem with the shift solenoids. Check fuses first. Could just be a power supply issue. Then, move on to changing the transmission shift solenoids. If you remove the transmission oil pan, and the fluid is dark brown and smells horrible, it is probably a burnt up transmission.

What is inner transaxle

is it auto or manual ? the inner trans axle are the drive shafts , don't think they would stop engaging gears , would be best to get a mechanic as could be a number of things

The automatic transmission is shifting oddly and speedometer jumps back and forth. The problem seems to occur when shifting into and out of 2nd gear. It seems like it has a hard time selecting the gear...

How to check automatic transmission fluid. An automatic transmission depends on the transmission fluid for transferring engine power to the wheels, shifting gears, lubricating moving parts and cooling down the transmission. Check the transmission fluid when your car is serviced and change it as recommended. Different cars have different ways of checking the transmission fluid level; some require the engine to be shut off (e.g. Honda), some cars don't have a transmission dipstick at all and the fluid can only be checked in a repair shop. Check your owner's manual for proper procedure. This is how the transmission fluid checked on most cars:
transmission-fluid1.jpg After the vehicle was driven for a while to let the transmission fluid warm up, place your vehicle on a level ground. Set the parking brake. Make sure the transmission is in "P" (Park) position. Leave the engine running. Find the automatic transmission dipstick (your owner's manual will tell you where it is located). Pull the dipstick out.
transmission-fluid2.jpg Wipe the dipstick off with a clean lint-free rag. Insert it back fully. Pull it out again and check the fluid level. A transmission fluid expands when warmed up, so if the car has been driven for a while (20-30 minutes), the transmission level should be between "HOT" marks. If the vehicle is cold, the level should be between "COOL" marks. Check the fluid condition: a very dirty fluid with strong burnt smell is a warning sign of transmission problems. Normally the automatic transmission fluid should be clean and transparent, as in these photos.

If your fluid looks very dark or dirty, check your owner's manual, maybe it's time to change it. Some manufacturers require to change the transmission fluid at 30,000 or 50,000 miles others specify that you never have to change it - check what's your car owner's manual says.

Wait for a few minutes - let the fluid drain down. Recheck the level again. Don't overfill

you can try changing the transmission fluid and filter but i think its already to late and your looking at a major overhaul of the trans

My nissan primera has a problem of sticking in the second gear may take a while for the gear to change.what is the problem?

Sit Quasimodo down and give him a stern talking to. Primera not being a USA model I would be just guessing. If the Automatic transmission fluid is dark and burnt it might be time for a new car. Manual transmissions can have a clutch fluid issue or leaks or worn out clutch parts and are less expensive to repair. How many miles on that Huntch-Back of Notre-Dame

Very difficult at times to get into gear on my 2007 grand vitara. At times when in gear cannot change gear at all but other times moves through gears freely. What is the problem?

if this is an automatic transmission, check your transmission fluid level. The fluid should be red, if it is orange/ brown colour and smells burnt. Will need to be changed. Take it somewhere to have fluid and filter changed. If you are mechanically inclined try flushing the fluid through the transmission. Disconnedt the driver side transmission cooling rubber line from bottom of rad. place the end of the hose in a large container. Put parking brake on, turn on vehicle and put into drive. the transmision fluid with pump out into container. Watch how fast it pumps out. When the fluids stops coming out, shut off engine and put back into park. Next drain remaining fluid out of transmission pan. There is 9/19 or 14mm bolt for this on bottom side of transmission. When this is done, refill transmission and repeat. This time you are flushing all the extra **** out of the transmission. Again check thre flow rate of the fluid coming out. It will come out faster this time. When finished replace transmission fluid again with new clean fluid. This should help free your shifting. When starting the engine for the first time. Put the brake on and put the shifter in 1st for a few seconds , then 2nd and drive, then reverse. This will also allow the fluid to begin to circulate.
If the transmission fluid was dark brown or black it would be wise to replace filter when you finish flushing transmission. To do this you have to disconnect the 4 wheel drive shaft to get pan off. Try just flushing the transmission first. I will look again in couple of days for your reply.

You mean check the fluid?
You will run the vehicle to operating temperature and make sure the transmission has shifted in drive and reverse gears. Once it is at operating temp, you will park on level ground, place the shifter in NEUTRAL and set the parking brake. You may now pop the hood and remove the transmission dipstick, wipe it clean re-insert it into the transmission dipstick tube and pull it out again. Look at the level of the fluid on the stick. Look at both sides of the stick and the lowest level mark on the stick is you transmission fluid level.
When you are checking the transmission take note of the color of the fluid. It should be a reddish pink color and not have a "burnt" smell. If the fluid is turning dark red, orange-ish, or darker the fluid should be changed. Also is the fluid smells burnt or has small metallic particale in it, it should be changed. The mopar ATF does have an odor but it is not offensive or burnt smalling when the fluid is in good condition.

Automatic Transmission Doesn T Shift Into Drive but will go in reverse, from any other gear (including P or neutral)

check transmission fluid make sure its not low.if fluid looks black and smells burnt.change transmission fluid and filter.if you already change fluid and filter.your transmission manual valve out of adjustment.or you have faulty oil pump and worn over drive with a damage roller clutch.also forward clutch has worn or burned clutch plates damage piston or seals.

86 porsche starts and goes in gear but will not move

check transmission fluid .if low add to the right amount. if looks dark brown smells burnt.change fluid and filter.
