Question about 1991 Chevrolet S-10 Blazer
Shifts into drive and drives great shifts into reverse no problem no noise just no power to go back chk the trans dip stick and fluid level is good and the fluid is not discolored. transmission in reverse if on a flat surface will go backwards but if you give gas theres no power to go backwards but i can drop it into drive and and go w/ no problem.
I'm betting it's a blown seal in the ****** or a burned reverse clutch-pack. Revving the engine fairly high in spurts sometimes will give you a little backward movement but often with a grinding sound or a strong grab and lunge so NEVER do this with kids or people around. That indicates a transmission rebuild most likely. Automatics can get so ugly sometimes, they are very complicated pieces of machinery with lots and lots of precision parts and tolerances. I firmly believe you are better off going to the dealer to get a rebuilt ****** instead of going to AAMCO paying more, and getting a harshly shifting transmission in the end. I've done both and speak from experience.
