I have a similar problem with my 95 Town Car. Drivers window motor makes some clicking noise but window won't go up or down. I've removed the door panel and found the mast cable(?) coming from the motor assy is all tangled up inside the black plastic housing which attaches to the metal part of the PW motor assy itself. Not sure if I'll have to buy the entire motor assy to get that cable. Also, I'm trying to get the window off the vertical track it rides up and down on. I've knocked out all the rivets holding the PW motor and the track assy, but don't seem to have enough room to slip the track out so as to get to the other end of the cable where it connects. Any help much appreciated, thanks

The gears in the motors have worn out, that's why the motors run but the windows don't move. The gear drives are made of cast metal, that's why they wear out.I had same problem on a 1985 ford pickup. Go to NAPA or another parts store and buy new motors. If you are mechanically inclined , you can replace them yourself. Need some basic tools. Napa will also have tool to remove door panels. Also buy a Chiltons repair manual for your make and model vehicle. The motors for my truck cost about $35.00 apiece. It is way cheaper to do this yourself, and maybe you can get a friend to help.

I have a 2001 Lincolon Town Car Cartier. The front driverside window will not come up. I came hear the motor moving up and down and it sounds like it might be scratching the tint.

it sounds like the track that is attached to the widow that the motor controls has come loose from the window payne. You will need to get adhesive from a parts supplier and reattach it.

Rear power windows not working

One common problem that occurs with faulty power windows is a faulty Chrysler Town and Country window motor. You can obtain access to your Town and Country window motor by removing your interior door panel, where you will also find your window regulator.

The window regulator is a collection of gears and arms that controls the up and down motion of your windows, and your window motor is the component responsible for turning those gears when you press your window switches. If your windows are not working, your first step should be to determine whether the problem lies with your window regulator, or your Chrysler Town and Country window motor.

You can often do this by listening when you press your window switch. If you hear a humming or a grinding sound, this usually means that your window motor is still trying to work, but your regulator is stuck. However, if you don't hear anything at all, then there may be a problem with your fuses, your wiring, or your Town and Country window motor. Over time your window motor may develop problems due to grime buildup, or simply wear and tear through normal use. You will find a full line of Chrysler Town and Country window motors right here in our online catalogue, along with the fuses, wiring, window switch kits, and window regulators you need.Enjoy our great low prices and fast reliable shipping on all Town and Country window motors as well as all of our high quality auto parts and accessories.

Why does the passenger side window not go down but you can still hear it moving

Because the regulator in the door is bad,has broken,it is the mechanical mechanisium that moves when the motor turns to move the window up ,and down.Or the window has come loose from the regulator.

Sounds like the plastic gears on the window motor have wore out and may be stripped or the window is partially off track.

I have a 93 linciln town car all 4 off my power windows wont work

If you here the window motors running then take off the inner door panel and make sure the window gear is engaged into the motor. If so and the track moves up and down then the window came out of the track holders and has to be glued back in it.

Windows wont go down

If the window regulator motors are running & the glass is not moving, then either the drive assembly is broken & you need new regulators - which is the most probable cause, or the bottom window channel that it hooks to, got unhooked or separated from the glass. Hope this helps you, Rick
