SOURCE: HEATER DOES NOT STAY HOT IT STARTS THEN IT GOES COLD

Check radiator fluid level. The heater core sets higher than the engine. If fluid gets low, air bubbles will go to the highest point. The heater core. Check temperature guage. Is engine warming up to normal range? If not change the thermostat. Also check radiator cooling fans with engine warm.
On my car if I set the heater control on anything other than "vent" both cooling fans come on and the engine will not warm up. (still haven't figured that one out) I just run the heater in "vent"

If heater warms up when engine is held at high idle(2000rpms) then cools down at idle, you most likely have air traped in the system.

SOURCE: 2000 ford taurus no heat in car

This is a common problem, Ford garage will charge you about 1000.00 to fix it. It's an all day job for someone who knows what they're doing. I wouldn't recommend this if you aren't familiar with cars. If you still want to go at it, get a book for your car, you will like that much better. It has pictures!

1997 Taurus ford GL 3.0,6cyl. Heat runs cold to

Some early cars have what is referred to as a hot water valve under the hood . It is hooked in one of the heater hoses , the supply side . The other hose is the return side , once the hot coolant goes through the heater core it goes back to the engine to get heated up again. This hot water valve is operated by engine vacuum. If you look at the fire wall or bulkhead , you should see two hoses going into the inside of the vehicle. those are the heater hoses. look for the valve on one of them. If you vehicle doesn't have one of this valves , you possibly have a mode or blend door problem . Does you car have Electronic Automatic Temperature Control or manual A/C-heater system ? The heater blower does work , all speeds ?

1997 ford Taurus 3.0 6cyl. Has not heat

Empty cooling system and reverse flush the heater core with water hose till water comes out clear. Then reverse procedure till water is clear. Fill system with water and turn car on, while car is running open drain plug and continue to keep radiator full while draining it at the same time turn on your heater with heat on high and blower on high When water is clear flush system and wait for engine to cool down. Refill with antifreeze and turn engine on, check for leaks and to see if you have heat. If still no heat change heat core.Let me know how you make out.

97 heater controls

Does it blow any air out of the vents? if so then your heater hoses are stopped up, usually where they connect to your engine with dirt, grime, and corrosion.

Car does not get heat 1997 ford taurus

If you can turn the heater button and you don't have coolant spills then either the heater radiator is clogged or,more likely, the control valve is not working. Locate it and check that the command arm switches position when you move the heat button : if it does than it's faulty - replace it, if it doesn't - the control cable, its anchor points or the heat button are faulty. Find which and fix it.
