1997 Pontiac grand am heater

The fan on my daughters grand am just quite working. When she puts the switch on lo med or high it does nothing. I have checked the fuses, but they appear to be ok. She needs to go back to college in a few days and needs to take the car. If anybody has any help to offer, please reply soon as I will need to get this fixed soon before she has to go.

Hey thanks so much for your help. When I was messing with the blower motor I noticed a small spark. It was a bad connection at the motor itself. I took it apart, cleaned it up, and put it back on the terminal. Works fine now. I'm so thankfull for your help. With two kids in college and another at home, money is very short. Being able to fix that myself saved us big money. Thanks so much!!!

I have the same problem with our daughter's car. Same year. It was fine on the drive to school in the morning but the motor wouldn't work or blow air on any speed when she came out after school. There were no problems or noises before to suggest the motor may be going bad. Both fuses are fine. Where can I find the blower motor on her car and all the connections? I can't find a diagram.

If you are certain there are no blow fuses, that leaves two things I am aware of that could be the culprit.

1. Blower motor resistor. Its a component, located inside the blower motor housing on that vehicle. Though, typically, when this goes bad it usually only takes out one or two fan speeds, like maybe speeds 1 and 2 or it might take out the high fan speed, its not really known for taking out all the fan speeds at once, although it could do so.

2. That leaves the blower motor itself. I dont see many of these go out without giving warning, such as making some kind of noise, but again, its not unheard of for them to just quit.

I would make certain that all the fuses are good, even check fuses under the hood that may provide protection for the HVAC system or even the blower motor itself.

Heater on 2010 dodge grand caravan made a clicking noise by passenger side glove box then heater quit working

Remove your glove box , behind it is a large resistor that allows the heater to have a low /med / high output...that resistor is a common problem. It blows!! Get a new one at dealer..runs about $30... Easy to change yourself

Why has the fan setting for the ac/heating has stopped working

The switch is uaually the culprit when it goes dead. Does the highest speed work when the AC is on? If so the fan switch is at fault. If nothing works as you put it the blower resistor is burnt out

Knob with 12345,only works on 5? It's the knob that you use to put the air/heat on low medium high.It only works on high.

You described the symptoms of a bad blower resistor. It's located on the heater box, most likely behind the glove box or just above the front passengers footwell. It will be a dealer only item and shouldn't take more then a half hour to replace with common hand tools.

Rear AC fan will not run in lo med or hi, switch or is there resistors on the fan that need checked?

When a blower motor does not turn on in low or med. and only turns on high its usally a resistor block. If nothing works it is most likely the bolwer motor itself or a fuse.

The heater just up and quit working in my 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee with no warning whatsoever. I can feel heat coming through the vents when going down the road, but the fan isn't working on any speed....

Does the fan work on A/C? If the fan isn't blowing, check the fuse. Heat when going down the road is simply an indication that the air from outside is coming through the system. If fuse is fine, blower motor is probably out.
