My engine is loud when I start it up on cold days but subsides up a little as the engine warms up. It is much more pronounced during acceleration although it can still be heard while idling.
Hey guys! I had the same problem:
Whinning until engine gets warm? Here is what to do:
This IS the long rubber belt going all around the engine outside, it is slipping a bit!!!
Put on some soap on the belt, while it is turning.
ATTENTION!
1.) regular soap! not liquid.
2.) take care, not to cut down your fingers by the visco fan!! Only firmly press it! You can do it also if the engine is not running. In this case start/stop the engine several times so soap it always on a different place.
3.) Be sure the soap goes into the rills of the belt.
4.) You may let the belt replaced OR if they are new, it can be an aftermarket product too, I had the same problem with an Italian made belt, buy the original, costs only 15 Euros more and you don't have these problems, these belts last for at least 50.000 km or more so an original is worth it.
Before putting on the new belt (if above didn't help), clean ALL rolls with e.g. brake disc cleaner spray, so all
the greasy oily dirt comes out of the rills :))
Again, this worked for me perfectly and I had the same problem. I'd give it a try, a cheap soap is less than an expensive service ;-))
Hope I could help!
That would likely be the power steering pump. going bad.

ok its a thought off my head that i can think of right off
the brake on drivers side is binding and the squiller pin i call it is rubbing on rotor you probably need a brake inspection there free at brake masters

Is the car flashing any codes. I would look for fuel issues possibly fuel filter, injectors etc. Because these items are easier to check. Otherwise it sounds as if the timing is off on the car. If the Hydraulic tensioner is not replaced this could cause the belt to jump teeth as well. PRETTY SURE YOUR TIMING IS STILL OFF

Hi. This might sound obvious but it isn't just the alternator belt requiring adjustment or replacement is it? Sounds very much like it from your description. Forgive me if youv'e already ruled that out.

It sounds as though the timing may be off. The belt may be okay, but if the timing is off, it will cause the motor to vibrate. Also... if your car keeps chewing up timing belts, there may be a defect in the timing gears or belt guides causing the belts to fail. There is also the possibility that the timing belt is rubbing against the timing cover as well. If the car seems slow to accelerate, or just doesn't perform as it once did, and it vibrates at idle and when you accelerate, there is most likely a timing issue still, and you need to ask your mechanic what they can do to remedy a problem. I hate to say it, but there ARE bad mechanics out there, and although I do not know the one that you used, many techs that put a timing belt in a car and find out that they are off a tooth on the gear will not tear it back apart to redo it. It is a lot of work and they are getting paid once to basically do the job twice. They'll give it back to you and just hope you don't notice. I can't promise this is the case, but its food for thought. Wish you the best in getting the timing issue resolved!
