2002 buick regal LS

My car was broken into over the holidays. under the hood the cover that sits over the engine was off. the oil cap was off. When i started the car it Reved to the max of the RPMS then the car chugged out. i tried again to start it and it did the same thing. I brought it to the Machinic and he told me the CROOKS tampered with it taking parts off. They told me it was the Pers Valve??? i asked around and ppl didnt know what that was? can ne1 help me get an idea of wat is going on? it starts up but RPM reves to the red bars then the car STALLS out.

Thank you

First... stop starting the car up until it is fixed. second check your engine oil to make sure nothing was added to it that will damage the motor... it sounds more like your car was vandalized then a crook stole parts from it.
go back and ask the mechanic to write down the name of the part and also examine under the hood near looking for any wiring that is unplugged.
only thing i can think of close to that would be a purge valve.

When i turn on my 1983 buick regal it starts smoking from behind the motor some where and i cannot figure it out. what could it be?

Oil. if the smoke is coming from between the engine block and the firewall then its probably oil on the exhaust manifold. Make sure that your engine is not leaking oil from the seals and make sure the oil cap and dipstick are in place, start your car, with the hood up and observe the smoke if its bad then id take it to a mechanic but if its only mild then providing your engine isn't leaking oil it should burn off within a few minutes of the engine being started, i say watch the smoke because if it is leaking oil onto the exhaust in great amounts then it is possible it could catch fire.

I have taken the oil pan bolts out and there is not enough clearance to remove the pan on a 2002 Buick Regal 3800 to replace the gasket. What steps do you suggest next.

Did you remove the catalytic converter, and motor mount? Lots of stuff has to come off to get this pan out. :o(

3.8L Engine
  1. Drain the engine oil.
  2. Remove or disconnect the following:

Negative battery cable Throttle body air inlet duct Engine mount struts Accessory drive belt
  3. Install an engine support fixture.

Catalytic converter from the right exhaust manifold Right front wheel Right side splash shield Oil filter and discard A/C compressor bracket and reposition the compressor Power steering oil cooler pipe brackets from the frame Engine mount bracket bolts Lower engine mount nuts Torque converter cover Oil level sensor electrical connector Oil level sensor
  4. Raise the vehicle and place a support under the frame.

Right side frame bolts and loosen the left side bolts Engine mount and bracket Oil pan

We just got a 2002 buick regal ls.we checked oil levels.good.the engine light came on after three days.what could be wrong.

could be anything, you will at least need a shop or at the least ottozone to read the code for you, once you have a code you can ask more questions here and we can maybe steer you right. then you will know what direction to start looking at. At the worst, I would take it to a qualified repair shop, keep away from any type of chain store.

remove cowling under hood to expose wiper motor linkage. You have to try it many times but the linkage may not be attached in the correct arc position. Trial by error.

Buick regal oil cap

a6b6ca9.jpg A 90 Buick Regal Oil filler cap unscrews all the way out and does not "half-twist". It's just stuck. You may want to buy a replacement (about $4) before applying more force or tools to it, just in case it's brittle.
