Question about 1990 Chevrolet Corsica

Brake lights wont come on unless my bright headlights are on and also no blinkers

After I had to replace my steering column i have been having issues with my break lights and blinkers too. I replaced the blinker unit, the blinkers and break lights worked for about 1 week after i fixed it then went out again. The first time it went out i still had the break light in the back window that worked. We replaced the same part again and after only 3 days this time it went out again. This time i have no break lights at all. We believe i have a bad light bulb since the fuse keeps blowing, I hope that is just it because if its the blinker unit again I think there is just something wrong with the steering column.

Have a Chevy Corsica 1996. Blinkers not working right. When I step on brake the arrow on instrument panel for the right blinker lights up. When use left blinker, both flash like the flashers are on. ...

It sounds like a bad light socket. The brake light and the parking/running/regular part of the socket are shorting out. When you press on the brake petal it's shorting out on the turn signal and sending current to the indicator (arrow) on the dash.. When you use the blinker, it's shorting with the brake light and causing them both to flash...

Check the socket and get back to me with the result.

The back passenger blinker wont work and the bulbs

Different filament.
You have two filaments in those bulbs. A dim one for lights, and a second one that's brighter for directional and brake. You need to see if you have a good ground and both positive's at the socket.( with the parking and directional on)

Have you considered going back to the place that replaced your motor. They surely are responsible for not making things worse. You just asked for a different motor and not all the electrical issues. Don't throw parts at it.

Brake lights wont come on unless my bright headlights are on

By the discription just about the only thing it could be is the multifunction switch, this is the turnsignal, wiper, blinker, bright light, and cruise if it has it switch. And it is not verry simple to replace. The steering colum needs to be taken apart to replace.

Left blinker light stays on solid when headlights are on

I have had this happen and it is rare, but I have had a filiment burn out in a two filment buld and short to the other filiment. It does happen and I think this might be your problem, the only way to find it is a visual inspection of each bulb. I am sure many people will think this is crazy, but I have had the exact same problem, I had the schematics, tested the circuits, etc. and them by accident found a stop/blinker 1157 bulb that had done this exact thing. I hope this helps you, check the bulbs in your headlights also.

Headlights wont come on and bright lights won't stay on hold bright light switch and blower works

I had the same problem. The solution is simple; the ignition switch needs to be replaced. This is an easy do-it-yourself project. Here are instructions:

Check for a switch on ebay, they are about $15. After 10 years they wear out.
