Re: How to a Change the Driver Side Wheel Breaing? 93...
I just changed mine, maybe I can offer some help. The bearing is pressed into the steering knuckle, so more than likely you will need the assistance of a machine shop. First loosen the axle nut (rented large socket at local auto parts store), and remove the brake caliper. Hang the caliper with a coat hanger or similar so as not to damage the brake line. Then I removed the bolt on the tie rod end, and the 3 bolts from the ball joint to the lower control arm. Then removed the 2 bolts on the strut so I then had the entire steering knuckle to take to the machine shop. I did attempt to hammer out the bearing myself. The bearing innards came out and I was still left with having to press out the remainder. Make sure you get the bearing seals from the parts store. I wasn't aware on my first trip to the store, and they didn't suggest it.

I do not know but I ended up have to get a replacement wheel assembly on my Toyota Corolla. I replaced the wheel bearing it self 3 times in 6 months. Do not know if the assembly was damaged when the inner race was pressed out / in.
Make sure you know what you are doing and use a very reputable machine shop that has experience with Toyota wheel bearings.
THIS NOISE IS CAUSED BY A POSSIBLE WHEEL BEARING
WHEN YOU DRIVE THE VEHICLE YOU SHOULD HEAR A ROARING NOISE AND AS YOU GO FASTER THE NOISE WILL GET LOUDER AND WHEN YOU TURN THE WHEEL FROM SIDE TO SIDE THE NOISE WILL FADE IN AND OUT. THIS IS AN INDICATION THAT THE WHEEL BEARING IS BAD.
ALSO ANOTHER WAY WOULD BE TO JACK UP THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE, BLOCK OFF THE REAR WHEELS SO THE CAR DOES NOT ROLL BACK ON YOU, THEN PUT THE CAR IN NEUTRAL AND GO TO THE WHEEL PUT YOUR HAND ON THE STRUT BASE AND SPIN THE TIRE WITH YOUR OTHER HAND YOU SHOULD FEEL A GRINDING NOISE. IF SO THE WHEEL BEARING ON THAT PARTICULAR SIDE IS BAD AND IT NEEDS TO BE CHANGED
Diagnosing the bearings can be tricky depending on severity of wear. Typically - drone noise at highway speeds, squeeling, clicking or grinding noises at low speeds that reduce during braking, or pull off the wheel and brake assembly and check the bearing for slack or smoothness of rotation by hand. While doing this, check the brake assembly thoroughly - generally a more likely culprit of wheel noise.
Wheel bearing replacement is not for the novice backyard mech. - you will need pullers, press, etc. If you can get a rebuilt assembly - much easier.
Remove wheel, brake cliper, cliper mounting bracket, brake pads and rotor.
Remove tie rod end and strut from spindle,
Remove large drive axle nut from center of hub by removing cotter pin and nut cover
Remove the ball joints 2 nuts and 1 bolt
Pull assy. lose from drive axle.
Take complete Hub assy with new bearing to an automotive machine shop and have them disassemble hub and replace bearing.
Reverse steps to reinstall
