It works off of fuel pressure and cold start sensor and injector something like that anyways its been 22 yrs since i have worked on a 87 vw cabriolet
SOURCE: cold start valve problem
if you have an electric cold start valve make sure to unplug it and if keeps apling fuel with electrical conector unpluged that means the valve is not good, but if not then you have an electronic problem, possible a bad cold start sensor or cold start module or cicuit problem, and might be a time to take it to an electrical shop
SOURCE: 85 s-10 2.5l no fuel from the injectors
electronic engine control unit calculates the mass of fuel to inject, not how wide it sprays. It's the type of solenoid that you use. Some have wider spray nzzles than others. An external Fuel pump helps the delivery of the fuel. Also since fuel injectors rely on mass air flows nowadays, you have to have proper mixture coming through. hows your Fuel pressure regulator?
The throttle position sensor reports to the computer the position of the throttle butterfly valve, which the ECM uses to calculate the load upon the engine-but inorder for this to run, you may need an external pump.
Sounds like nothing is being grounded back to the ECM to even give a reading. If your regulator is improper and you do not have a external pump (depending on your model), than check those. If not, Start from scratch.
If you ever lose your way, go back to the beginning_REWIRE!
Goodluck.
SOURCE: 1993 VW Cabriolet Fuel pump or Injector problem?
Hi. This is more of a fuel filter issue than a pump issue although, a bad fuel filter will eventually destroy a fuel pump. When the filter is restricted or clogged, this will tend to work the pump harder than normal. this will over heat the pump, therefore, shortening its life span. I recommend replacing the fuel pump and filter and, adding a fuel additive like techtron fuel injector cleaner/water remover as well.
Please rate and have a great day:)
SOURCE: throttle body injectors not fiering but there is fuel pressure
the injectors are fired thru the engine cotrol module but it gets its signal to fire from the pick-up located inside the distributor if you are loosing injector pulse only the ignition module is bad if you are also loosing spark when you loose injector pulse your pick up is causing the problem if you replace the pick-up i recomend you change the ignition module when doing so because they work together and you have to remove the distributor to change the pick-up
