I did have to remove the negative cable to clear the error code but once I did this and enter the code, radio works like a charm. The dealer here in OKC wanted to start with $70 to dismantle the radio just to get the serial number then go from there. My spouse is in Iraq and could only recommend the dealership.

Thank you vitaforall for the speedy reply and help!

The radio station buttons numbered 1 2 3 4 5 6. enter the 5 digit radio code there. if it locks up or goes to error you must remove the negative (-) battery cable to reset the radio and try again. it will let you try 3 times.

I replaced my battery in my 2000 honda accord ex and now my radio needs a code for it to work, and i dont have it. how do i get it?

Very common problem - especially if you did not buy the car new. The dealer can override the code in your radio and reprogram it with a PIN code that you can remember in case it happens again. (It will happen again anytime the battery runs dead or is disconnected) Make sure you take your picture ID and proof of registration with you to the dealer because they are not "supposed" to unlock a radio for anyone except the registered owner of the car. This is to prevent someone from stealing your radio and using it in another car.

I need the code t o reset the radio on my 1998 honda accord. The battery was disconnected for a while and noew the radio will not work without the code.

You will need to go to your local Honda Dealer. The unlock code can be obtained thru the Parts Department. You will need the VIN and proof of ownership (i.e. Title or proof of insurance). You will also need the codes that the radio gives you when you press and hold buttons 1 & 6. That will usually give you the codes, if not, then you will need to get the radio serial number. This can, usually, be found in the glove box. If not, then the radio will need to be pulled.

Radio reset

The code in the Glove box is just the serial number to the stereo, It is not the unlock code itself. Call a Honda dealer and give them this number. They should give you the code for free. They did for me.
cheers hope that helps

Had starter put on and now the radio is giving me an error code message

when the repair facility replaced the starter they disconnected the battery causing the radio to be locked out. when disconnecting the battery a memory saver should be connected to the car. this is a simple device consisting of a 9v battery that plugs into the lighter socket. it keeps the computer memory intact until the battery is reconnected. the dealer will have the unlock code but probably charge you. i would attempt to hold the repair facility responsible.

My battery was dead in my honda accord and know i need to unlock my car stereo.

UnfortunatelyHONDA codes are only available from the Main Dealer or by using a Radio Decoding Service who will connect a laptop to read the working code inside your radio`s memory chip (EEPROM)

Unlock Code For Honda Accord 98

you need to call the dealer to get the code. you might have to unhook the neg battery cable to reset the radio again if the code doesnt work. also somtimes the code is printed on a small white sticker somewhere in the car. around the glovebox or in a door jamb or in the trunk under the ash tray. just need to look all over.
