Outer/inner bulb, remove top black plastic cover that runs the lenth of the front of the car behind lights, turn the circular cover covering bulb anti-clockwise and remove, you will see a spring clip, push this clip towards the bulb and downwards, this will release the bulb, fitting is the reverse and the bulb will only fit in one position. It is awkward and space is tight

SOURCE: How do I change the passenger side headlight bulb on 2001 Altima

Open up the hood, and go in behind the fixture where the light is located. Sometimes there is an access panel on top. Open it and reach down inside and grab the bulb’s socket. Twist the socket a quarter turn counter clockwise, and pull out the socket. Grab the bulb, and pull it straight out. To replace the new bulb, never touch it with your bare fingers, as this will greatly shorten the bulb's life, if it even work's at all. Use a tissue or something else in that order to handle the new bulb. Push the new bulb into the socket, put the socket back into the housing, and twist a quarter turn clockwise to secure the socket into the fix.Seems that you have to remove the coolant bottle(two screws), and also the unscrew the washer fluid bottle, after that you can reach the socket that holds the bulb. There is a wire that holds the bulb in. if you loosen the screw you can tip up the wire and be careful to leave it in place...also the long side of the wire seems to connect to ground wire for the light...

SOURCE: Need a quick breakdown on how to replace a

do you know what H type of bulbs you have?
some are just a twist other have a clip that needs to be pressed and let fold down to allow bulb removal.

in the engine comartment behind where the headlight are there are either rubber boots or clips that need to be removed to expose the back on the buld.
remove the retaining clip as mentioned above or gently twist he bulb to remove it. now remove the old bulb from its holding wire.

when inserting the new bulb do not touch the glass as oil from the skin and disrupt its performance.
reverse the removal process and do the same on the other side.

NOTE: the new bulbs elements are in a slightly different postion in the bulb than the old ones (no two bulbs are exactly alike) for best visibilty have you headlight realligned after bulb replacement.

How do I change a headlight bulb on my 2001 X Type. Near side dipped beam

Get a torch and a piece of dowelling about 30cms/12ins long. screw small hook into the end of it. The spring clip nearest the centre of the car can be undone by hand. Use the flat end of the piece of dowelling to push the other clip off. you can get a hand onto the bulb housing and pull it away. change the bulb. put the housing back in place. then use the hooked end of the dowelling to pull the spring clip nearest the wing back into place, this is where the torch comes in handy. its dark in there.
secure the other clip by hand. I had three bulbs go in quick succession. I can now do this in about 10 min. It is best to replace the bulbs with original equipment. since I did that no more blown bulbs.

My drivers side headlight went out on my 05 jaguar x-type and i changed the bulb and even checked the owners manual to locate the fuse to see if it was blown. What other problem could it be?

As you have changed the bulb and also checked the fuse, it could be a wiring problem somewhere? Have you looked at the plug that the bulb goes into, is it rusted, are all the wires connected? That'd would be my next place to look.. :)
