Under the hood on the firewall you will see a thin plastic white or black vacuum line, it connects to the engine and that line controls the zones, if it breaks or comes loose the defrost will stay on no matter what you select.

SOURCE: Heat and AC vent problem.

most likley you have a vaccume leak somewhere but also the linkage to the door that that directs the air flow may be in a bind. another possability is the hvac controlls. hope this helps

SOURCE: why does the ac on my 2003 ford f150 blow through the defroster

Most likely it is a vacuum problem. That's what controls the air flow flaps.

SOURCE: 2003 ford explorer has no heat

does the fan in the cab work?? if it does SOUNDS LIKE YOU MAY HAVE AIR BLOCK, OR BLOCKED HEATER MATRIX, FIRST CHECK THE HEIGHT OF THE HEATER MATRIX IN THE CAB , IF ITS HIGHER THAN THE FILLER/EXPANSION TANK. THEN COULD BE AN AIR LOCK, LOOK FOR THE HIGHEST PIPE AND SEE IF THERE IS A BLEED VALVE, IF NOT TAKE BOTH PIPES OFF THE MATRIX FEEDS (TWO PIPES GOING FROM ENGINE BAY TO INSIDE OF CAR, AND FLUSH OUT WITH HOSE TO SEE IF IT IS BLOCKED, AND RECONNECT LOWEST PIPE FIRST AND FILL SYSTYM TILL WATER APPEAR FROM TOP AND RECONNECT RUN MOTOR, AND KEEP TOPIN UP, YOU CAN BuY A COOLENT FLUSH SOLUTION TO CLEAN THE SYSTYM OUT

SOURCE: 2003 ford explorer ac compressor does not come on.

It is probably either a bad compressor clutch or the system has lost its fluid and the low pressure switch is keeping it from coming on. If you track the AC lines on one of them you will see a sensor with a plug connected to it. Start the car turn the AC to max, blower also. Then unplug the connector on the pressure switch and jump the wires in the connector. Use a flat head screwdriver if the connector has exposed pins or a paperclip if the pins are inside little tubes. If you do this and the compressor kicks on then you have lost your refrigerant and have to bring it to be leak tested. If it doesn't come on then it is probably the AC compressor clutch.

I have a 2003 Ford F-150 FX4 5.4 and the AC only blows out of the defrost and help

Dustin, Sound like vacuum loss to position switch. Defrost is the default position when vacuum is lost in vent control system. Check any and all vacuum lines and connections under hood first, especially any that run through firewall. Check the attached links, instruction and guides, Good luck

2002 ford explorer AC and heat blowing in dash, but very weak from the vents

On the motorcraft parts web site, you can blow up
a picture of the HVAC Blend Door Motors & locations,
as well as part numbers

You can get failed motor from Amazon

With knowing where the motors are located, try switching
the air flow modes manually, to see what positions do not work

Then you know what motors to replace

I also have professional scan tool software & can see the codes
for the motors in enhanced data.

The-- Vent Blend Doors-by name

Defrost-up top
Cabin -the vents as you say in the middle & on the sides
Floor
Recirculate-under the glove box
Blend Door -under the dash on your print

I think i have blockage in the vents heat and ac work but when fan mototr increases in speed no change in air flow

check defrost and footwell to see if air comes from these two places.if air is coming from these places then you have to find which blend door is bad

Heat AND AC ONLY COME OUT DEFROSTER NOT VENTS

you probably have a vacuum leak from the engine or vacuum storage canister to the heater/a/c control head. Defrost is default mode required by law when system fails.
