A light on my 1991 Land Rover Discovery

The light is in between The oil and battery lights and is causing me concern, could you possibly shed some light on this for me. I purchashed the workshop manual, however it doesn't even show the dashboard.

Your help would be appreciated
Thanks Les

Les,
Is it an orange light with a circle?, then it's your brakes! I have the same light on my 1992 Disco and after checking it found that the sender unit connected to the brakes was faulty.

The light between the oil warning light and the ignition light is the brake pad warning light. This light will come on as a bulb check when the handbrake is applied and the ignition key is turned to position 2. If it comes on at other times the brake pads need replacing.

it depends whats leaking i think it has nothing to do with the problem you have abs,tc,and hill this means its a brake problem , wheel bearing ,speed sensor on the wheels or diff, could also be a trans problem but to do something quick unplug battery for 10-15 mins restart car drive for a while does light come back on

2000 Land Rover Discovery 2 hard to start during this winter season

Aside from building a garage or installing an engine block heater I have used this trick in the past on my 98 RR HSE. It may work for you if the starting issue is simply temperature related. Placing a shop-light or shielded work light underneath your block at night will produce just enough heat in many cases to overcome the slow starting problem.
Other possibilities may be under powered/weak battery. The rovers are known for high cranking amp demand and a weak or mismatched battery could certainly cause this problem. On the outside chance that it may be fuel delivery related you might try priming your fuel injection prior to cranking. Do this by turning key to position 2 (or last position before crank) wait til all the bells and whistles stop usually about 3-5 seconds, and repeat a couple times. If this is helpful, the bad news is it may be indicative of mechanical issues on the horizon.
****SAFETY NOTE***** PAY ATTENTION TO LIGHT PLACEMENT MAKING SURE NOT TO PUT IT IN PATH OF OIL LEAKS.
Hope this helps.

My 1999 land rover discovery won't start when I

Does the starter spin? Has the battery been load tested? Are the battery cables clean and tight on the the battery posts? Check all this and you will likely find one of them to be the problem.

Land rover discovery II has SRS light on and wondering what the usual problems are?

SRS light can come on under the following cases mentioned below:

  • If the car battery drains or you disconnect it for any reason
  • Usage of after market gauge clusters
  • If the ECU is defective or Air bag is defective or not aligned properly.
  • If the care met an accident or the clock springs inside your steering wheel is bad.

The most preeminent problem would be concerned with the air bag.

Default code P1451 Land Rover Discovery II

The code P1451 on a Land Rover is "Leakage Detection Module Motor power stage error Drive cycle A:Signal out of range - above maximum". This is an OBD-II diagnostic system code. As far as I know, a 1995 Land Rover Discovery does not use a OBD-II system. Is it possible that this rover is a later model year

Oil Light Keeps Coming On

It could be an oil pressure sensor faulty, just giving off bad reading when the level is actually correct.
