Chances are you have a blown head gasket.

SOURCE: oil appearing in radiator, 4afe engine, is there awater gallery behind oil pump? checked head gasket looked fine

Since there is way more pressure from the oil pump than there is pressure in the cooling system oil can leak into the cooling system and coolant not leak back due to the pressure differential. It is very easy to have a head gasket leaking and not see where the leak was with a visual inspection after disassembly. I would inspect the head for cracks and if it is ok clean the block and head and have the head checked for warpage and if it is ok replace the head gasket and you should be good to go.

SOURCE: i have oil in coolant

It would appear that there is a problem with the head gasket not sealing properly around the point where the pressurised engine oil goes from the block to the head to lubricate the valve gear and is leaking into the engine water jacket and showing up in the coolant and collecting around the cap because oil is less dense than water. The problem could be caused by the engine having been overheated previously causing the head to warp slightly and allowing the oil to seep into the coolant.
The only fix would be to have the head removed and have it machined to return the mating face to dead flat and then replacing the head with a new gasket.
While the head is off it may pay to have the valves and seats checked for wear and the valve stem oil seals replaced as they go hard over time and become worn, especially as the engine is over 15 years old.

04 Buick Rendezvous over heated last night. I pipe-wrenched the rad-cap off to find no hole. just inches of brown mud. I assume it is engine rust. this car has never been flushed in 220,000 miles. do

Take it to a radiator specialist or dealer ASAP before you overheat the engine again and do some seriously expensive damage - at the very least you need a radiator flush.

I have a mud like substance in my radiator and qwhat causes that

What you see is a mixture of water, oil and fuel, Unfortunately you car has a blown head gasket or cracked head, you need to get a mechanic to completely diagnose it as the engine will sustain more damage if you continue to use it.

Heating has stoped working and there is a little water in the oil, think radiator may be leaking, does my car just need a new rad

water in the oil will turn the oil brown like mud,is that what you see? if so,then you have a blown head gasket,do not run motor if this is the case as the motor wiil spin a crank bearing or lock up.are you sure about the water in the oil? look for real brown oil just like mud with bubbles on the oil dipstick. if the heats stopped working it may be because the radiator's low on fluid. look in the radiator for low coolant,if you can't see the coolant when you remove the radiator cap,it's low. with engine cool, remove the radiator cap 1st then start the engine. do you see steam and fluid blowing up frome the radiator? if so,you have a blown head gasket in the motor. head gaskets can blow and leak water into the oil or oil into the radiator. or blow and leak into the exhaust sysytem and blow coolant out of the tail pipe. three different ways for a head gasket to blow. usually the head gasket only blows when the engine has been run really hot!!! hope this helps.thank you for choosing fixya .com

Oil light came on checked the oil it was good went to open the oil cap the oil around the cap look mud like

The oil light indicates your system needs added oil. Check the dipstick and add as needed. If you have excessive foaming in the filler tube, you may have an air leak in the engine that needs to be addressed, such as a bad gasket. Good luck.

Hello Have 2000 excursion with oil in the water. Runs good, no overheat, no water in oil. Radiator had some film that looked like brown mud when I got the vehicle. Just changed the oil and now have fresh...

Oil in the radiator means either a blown head gasket, cracked cylinder head, or cracked block. You need to have this checked out immediately, as you will ruin your engine running it this way.

Engine light wenton, car heated up, car would not

If the engine overheated while driving, damage to the cylinder head gasket or engine block/cylinder head may have been done, which would prevent the vehicle from starting.

A standard engine compression check will tell the tale.

2005 Chevy Impala

Check the engine oil for a yellow sludge you should see it on the dip stick. If its just oil then it could be your oil cooler leaking oil into the water system.Or the only other thing that would cause this sludge in your water is the head gasket.

Car engine heats up

First you need to get the radiator cleaned up and then fill it up with a good quality coolant and not water and for oil leakge you need to get in touch with a mechanic so that he can replace the oil seals, i also have the same problem with the oil leak and i changed the oil seals and its working fine since then.
