Question about 1989 Toyota Pickup SR5
I have a 89 Toyota pickup,3.0v6, 4x4.. And when it is in the idle position it revs up and down? When it is engaged into a forward or rev. motion it's as smooth as can be? Can't figure it out...
I would guess that a dirty throttle plate is your problem. If the throttle plate is not closing properly, the Throttle Position Sensor is not fully closed, with does not activate the "closed throttle switch". Remove the air tube from the intake manifold; and observe the throttle plate. if it is real dirty with black carbon build-up, this is your problem. Spray it with carb claners until it is nice and shiny.
