1995 mazda protege heater problem

This actually happened a while ago, but it was warm and the windows went down, so it wasn't a problem until winter kicked in. it seems that the fan doesn't work, and the defroster doesn't work either. i've turned it off and on, high to low, and it doesn't blow air, hot or cold. i've checked the fuses, and they're fine, but all the places i know here in green bay, wisconsin charge for diagnostics. i was wondering if there is a fix that i can do myself just by going into an auto parts store. otherwise, any other insight would be appreciated.

I assume your fan is not turning which can be heard with just the key on at low. You will need to replace your heater fan , buy a Haynes book for your car $10 or so and read how to replace it, you could also check fan in car by jumping a 10 amp line to it to make sure fan is bad! Check anti freeze volume, and thermostat if fan is good.

My mazda protege is having a heating problem. The temp guage will go up to the normal place as the engine warms up but then when I drive down the road the temp guage goes down to below cold and then my car...

I believe the mazda protege has a separate thermoswitch to activate the radiator's fan. Perhaps the fan keeps blowing until the temperature is too low. Try replacing the fan thermoswitch. Just take care to put in tis place a thermoswitch of the same temperature range.

I have a 1999 mazda protege and when I start it up all gauges remain down what could be the cause?

The first step would be to check all the fuses, if all the fuses are good then i would say the cluster is bad, i do not think it is all the sensors that went bad all at once, never seen that happen, remove the cluster and check the connections. try to unplug connectors and re connect them and see if that works, if not then replace the cluster but make sure fuses are all good, check engine compartment fuses as well as inside fuses.

I loaned a car to a friend who neglected to start it all winter, now it won't start or jump. Am I right in assuming this is a problem that can be fixed by replacing the battery, and if so what size battery...

The battery probably is gone. For a battery? Take your old battery to a place that sells batteries and they will duplicate it for you. Good luck

Code po705 mazda protege lx shaking rough start

The Code you refer to is P0705 Transmission Range Sensor Circuit malfunction (PRNDL Input). It is a possiblility that because this code is present, this sensor is malfunctioning. If it is malfunctioning, that means the engine needs to "guess" the value that this sensor is responsible for. In most cases when this happens, the engine will go for a value that ensures the car runs. The engine will not try to run smooth or efficently, it will only try to run. It is my guess that if you have the sensor checked and replaced, the problem might be fixed. Please let me know if this answers your question and please rate my response. Thank you

When I first start my 1995 Mazda Protege, it will not go into gear unless you let the car warm up for at least 10 minutes or longer

If you have an automatic transmission, check the transmission fluid level. If the fluid level is low, the transmission will not engage.

If you have a manual transmission, check the clutch fluid level. Look for a leaky master cylinder or slave cylinder.

2002 Mazda Protege acceleration problem

I had the same problem and found that the air admission tube was badly cracked.

Since this let air enter the engine downstream of the mass airflow sensor it is not measured so the engine ECU don't send the proper amount of fuel to provide the right air/fuel mixture. At higher RPM, the vacuum in the tube is enough to close the crack and hide the problem.

I temporarly repaired it with duct tape until I get the part.
