Question about 1995 Mazda Protege

1 Answer

I have a 1995 mazda protege and my heater fan doesn't seem to work. it's been out for quite a while, and was wondering if the problem can be fixed without a repair shop, and if it can be done by myself.

Find the location of the fan motor. Usually on the heater cowing by the firewall under the hood but could also be inside.
Disconnect the wire leading to it and run a wire from the positive 12v(fuse panel or battery) to see if the motor runs. If it does not the replace motor. If it does run the you wil have to start testing other items suchj as the heater control switch.

Why no heat in 2001 mazda protege

Possible that the fan belt is not tensioned right or that the water pump is binding causing low flow through the heater.
If belt is not loose, release it more and try turning the water pump by hand to see if it is binding.

My mazda protege is having a heating problem. The temp guage will go up to the normal place as the engine warms up but then when I drive down the road the temp guage goes down to below cold and then my car...

I believe the mazda protege has a separate thermoswitch to activate the radiator's fan. Perhaps the fan keeps blowing until the temperature is too low. Try replacing the fan thermoswitch. Just take care to put in tis place a thermoswitch of the same temperature range.

You probably have a bad fan switch. I had the same issue and had it diagnosed and replaced. It fixed the problem, but it seems to be coming back less than 2 years later.

2001 mazda protege heater would only work on

You may have a faulty fan switch. Had mine replaced when only #1 and #4 were working and it fixed the problem. Unfortunately, there may be more issues, as a year later the switch is failing again. May be some kind of feedback that is causing it to fail.

1995 mazda protege heater problem

I assume your fan is not turning which can be heard with just the key on at low. You will need to replace your heater fan , buy a Haynes book for your car $10 or so and read how to replace it, you could also check fan in car by jumping a 10 amp line to it to make sure fan is bad! Check anti freeze volume, and thermostat if fan is good.
