Hang on this bearing can be changed with out changing the whole rear end look close at the seal the bearing is rite with that seal! I would take off differential cover and see if your gears are loose and sloppy use bar to check then rotate wheels to see if any thing is wobbling! if not change the seal and this time the OUTER bearing you will need to keep your cover off to get the hex bolt out to release your shaft! it will just slide out reverse all said and done top it up with differential fluid and you should be okay!!??? ps that is a lot of work to pull out the *** end of that truck!!!!!

Why do I hear grinding noises while driving?

Hit in the rear axle may have damaged bearings or brake parts. Jack up the side you hear noise from, put on stand, then have helper rotate wheel while you look underneath and listen to see where noise is coming from. Use length of old fuel or heater hose, one end in ear, to locate exactly where noise comes from.

A problem with 96jeep grand Cherokee limited,4wd v8, I hear a clicking noise when I make a right turn on passenger side. And something on driver side sounds like a screw dragging. Help?!?

The clicking noise could be a damaged drive axle joint.
The dragging screw sound could be the wear indicator for the brake pads.
Have you had the front brakes checked in the past 6 months?

Rear axle leaking at right rear wheel

DO NOT WAIT- MY DEALER SAID I HAD A SMALL LEAK IN SAME PLACE, BUT DIDN'T SAY IT WAS URGENT. SEAL BLEW OUT DRIVING ON FREEWAY, DAMAGED ONE AXLE BEFORE I COULD EXIT. $1200 REPAIR. IT WAS NOT MAKING ANY NOISE TILL IT FAILED. SOUNDED LIKE TIRE THUMPING TO ME. DEALER REPLACED BOTH LEFT AND RIGHT SIDE SEALS, RIGHT SIDE BEARING AND RIGHT SIDE AXLE.

Rear end makes rowing sound above 30 miles per hour also tjere is a leak of rear end grease on the left rear wheel.

THE LEAK is an axle seal leaking the noise is bearings in rear end could be axle bearing of carrier/pinion bearings while driving shift weight of truck side to side see if noise changes if so it is axle bearing if not then most likely differential bearings

Clicking noise down by the front tires.

check your axles, for an open cv boot, this clicking is on straigth or turning, if turming to your rigth you hear noise to be louder on your left then your left axle is bad, do the same to your left and if noise exists then your rigth axle is bad.good luck

I have a problem with the transfer case. What will happen if I do not get this fixed right away ? Also I hear a clucking noise on the rear passenger side , what could this be? ?

this could be a number of things with the clucking noise coming the rear passengers side. could be axle seal has blown, something stuck in the breaks, blown axle. dif on its way out, loose drive shaft. with the transfer case all it does is when engaged puts drive into the front dif, as the rear is already in drive so if your transfer case goes you wont have 4wheel drive it will only be the rear wheels, although in saying that, if your transfer case decides to lock up then you could be in some serious trouble. so i recommend you do get it fixed right away.

I keep hearing a clicking noise every time i drive foward, back right or left. why does it keep making that noise?

Could be cv axles need to be replaced, to have them done usually around $100 - $150 each side.

200SX SE Nissan 1996, making weird noise on passenger side

a little tip for you...it sounds like the pads are squealing, try taking the pads out and applying a very thin film of high temperature grease on the rear of the pads (NOT TO THE FRICTION SIDE), this may seem a bit of an odd thing to do, this tip was passed down to me by an old mechanic friend of mine years ago,and it works every time for me.
