Air pump stays on when key is off

1999 A4; air pump runs continuously when the key is off draining the battery. Power and ground are constant to the plug at pump. Relay controlled or sensor controlled? Where would either be located? What does the air pump do?

The air pump is not in the trunk, and it is not for the air ride. It is used to reduce tailpipe emissions. it is actived by a vacuum valve/solenoid.It could be a bad vacuum valve or check valve. Save yourself a few bucks and go to an auto parts store and get a haynes repair manual to locate these parts, and replace them yourself.

The air pump is for the air ride suspension. there should be a switch in the trunk to turn it off.

1994. Why won't it start?

If the fuel pump/s continue to run with key on, suspect a relay issue. The relay is grounded by the vehicles computer. If the computer supplies a constant ground, the relay will continue to stay closed and power the fuel pumps constantly. If the the ground wire that comes from the computer to the relay is shorted/grounded, the relay will stay energized as well. As for the no start, are the injectors getting a power and ground supply? The ground side of the injector is controlled by the computer as well. Is the vehicle getting spark at the coil/plug? Have you scanned the computer for any trouble codes?

Why does my 1998 lincoln continental drain the battery, have flickering dash lights, fluctuating power steering assist, and disabled air shock pump continues to run even with switch in trunk off?

Battery drain caused by a short to ground (frame or body) somewhere. Most likely this short is intermittent, which makes the dash lights flicker, similarly the power steering assist. Most likely the trunk switch issue is the "short to ground" . Visually inspect carefully all wiring in near and by the switch, and Air Shock Pump. I like the new very bright Led flashlights for this kind of thing. You may also discover the short by observing the trunk electrical in the dark while the engine is running thus viabration causing the intermittent behavior. You may see flashes from the short (if you are lucky) Otherwise it will take a lot more inspection and checking. Good luck, hope it is the easier to find in the trunk.

My 2000 S10 V6 secondary air injection pump stays on after the engine is turned off. Sometimes it runs for hours which drains the battery. The pump and relay have been replaced but the pump is still...

It would have to be a short somewhere in the wiring.
The pump gets power from the A.I.R. relay. The pump circuit is from a 30amp fuse that gets power from a 175amp main battery circuit.
But the relay magnet is powered by a 10amp fuse from the ignition switch, and it is grounded by the computer to turn the relay on.
Do I understand you to say pulling the relay or the 30amp AIR fuse will not kill the pump ?

Paassenger footwell on my audi a4 1.9tdi(1999) 110bhp has water running into it when air con/heater is running. Any idea's?

Most likly the drain hose for the aircon is dislocated or is blocked up. If upon inspection you find hose still connected then a low preasure air inject into hose may unblock. If you can get a venturi suction on the hose that will extract. some form of vacume pump will do the same. Best to extract any blockage if you can as it will only re-occour

My 2003 cavalier wont start,it will if you pur gas in the throttle body,is it my fuel pump? the obd2 scanner said system running lean, pressure low.Odd enough the battery wont stay charged, It was parked...

A failing fuel pump is the most common cause of a low-pressure situation. The battery should be completely unrelated; it's either a bad battery or a parasitic draw. Fuel pumps do not have access to key-off batt voltage, therefore cannot cause a parasitic drain. However, there are many things which can cause a parasitic drain. This can be determined by removing the ground cable from the battery and hooking up an ammeter in-line between that cable and the open negative post on the battery. A normal key-off drain is 20-50 mA (to power the clock/ECM/etc...make sure no interior lights are on while your doing this). More than that means there is a malfunctioning component somewhere w/ access to constant battery voltage.

Vaccuum under the air filter box runs even when the key isnt in

It sounds like your air pump is malfunctioning. It is used to pump emissions out the back of the car. it is controlled by a vacuum. These will drain your battery if the vacuum does not send a signal to shut it off.
