Started running bad, then cutout all together, now will not start...it started a couple of times and would run really well, and then just cut off. I think it is the fuel pump, I need to know where the fuel pump is located on my 1996 Ford explorer

If the truck has 75-100,000 miles then it is very likely it is the fuel pump, when it quit did it just turn off or did it loose power and then shut off?

Possibility fuel pump or pump relay, or if you have had lots of rust & debris in tank, could be the filter again.

or
Go get an inline spark tester. (Harbor Freight 3 bucks) If there is spark in the plugs then it is probably the fuel pump. Check\replace the relay first. If that not it then your fuel pump is probably bad. If you know how you can check the fuel rail pressure with a gauge to see if the pump is working. You can try to listen for the pump. You have to listen real close. Get inside the vehicle (close the doors)and put your ear to the floor in the cargo area. Have someone turn the key to the second click right before starting it. You should here it pressurize the fuel lines. If you done hear this then your fuel pump is bad. I hope this helps.

Fords have inertia fuel cut off switch. You need to check that first. If you dont have fuel. If you have fuel and no spark you need to check for inj pulse to injector. Make sure no fuses are blown. If no spark and no injector pulse then replace cranksensor.

Do i have a vapor lock

Remove the gas cap when it does this. If you hear a woosh sound the tank vent isn't working properly. Essentially your tank has turned into a vacuum.
