It can be done at home, but it takes some special tools and a lot of attention to details. You will need a means to inject regulated compressed air into the cylinders through the spark plug holes, one at a time of course and you will need a special valve spring compression tool First you need to remove the valve cover. Give each spring rotator a good rap with a brass hammer to break the taper lock on the valve keeper. Bring # 1 cylinder to top dead center. It is critical that it be exactly at TDC or when you inject the air through the plug hole it will push the piston down. The compressed air will hold the valve in it's closed position.Next carefully remove the valve spring assembly with the tool. Remove the old seal carefully.Don't get too rough here or the valve will fall into the cylinder and you won't be able to retrieve it.Install the seal protector that comes with your seal kit over the valve.Lube the seal and valve stem liberally and gently push it down on the valve until it seats fully in it's place. Reinstall the spring and go to the next valve for that cylinder.Remove the compressed air and bring the next cylinder to TDC and repeat for all the cylinders. Reinstall the valve cover .If you have any questions repost me.
