solution correct, I just had a problem getting the wires off. The wires were stuck so I had to take the bulb out first to get the wires off.

Hi
Open the hood. Look at the top edge of the headlight. About 1/3 to 1/4 of the way in from the inner edge of the housing, you'll see a rectangular clip, and about 10" outboard of that clip, you'll see a matching one. Simply pull up on those clips - they're slide locks for the headlight housing. Once you pull them up, you'll be able to pull the whole headlight housing out towards you, and from there, you can unclip and remove the bulb socket and change it.

Behind the low beam and high beam lamps, on the back of the assembly, you can see and feel a round, cup-like, hard plastic piece. This is really just a rubber cap covering a plastic cylindrical housing, and is the "back-door" for lamp access. This rubber cap, or lid, can be pulled off with your fingers...if you can grip it just right and pull off. If this is too hard to do, then take a flat tip screwdriver and gently "pry" it off. Once you see how it is attached, your going to do a 180 and say, "gee, this is a pretty easy design" ! The bulbs do not pull out!! They are removed with a 90 degree twist.
If you are going to replace the passenger side low beam remove the air cleaner assembly first. To do this remove the cross brace, then the 3 screws on the air cleaner assembly. This will give you easy access to the bulb assembly. Test the bulb before you reassemble. ADDITIONAL OPTION: On each side of the assembly, you will see a small, thin release bar that will pull up (I needed a small pliers to get one loose). Once both are in the "up" position, the entire assembly can be gently eased out. You won't get far because the other bulbs are still plugged in. However, you don't have to unplug any of the other bulbs or remove the air cleaner. Easing out the assembly simply proves more room for your hand to get a better angle at the bulbs. I simply reached around and removed the old bulbs as specified above and did the reverse to insert the new ones.

Thank you for your question.
There is a clip which holds the bulb in place. Firstly carefully pull off the wire and then push the clip forward and to one side to release the bulb. If you can't see the clip, you may find that a small mirror will help. Once you can see the clip, it's a fairly simple job. When you fit the new bulb, make sure that it seats correctly so that the beam image is correct. Take care not to touch the glass part of the new bulb as finger prints will affect the bulbs performance.

I hope this answers your question. If you require any further help, please feel free to reply to this answer.

All Jaguar X type headlight bulbs are H-1. Any auto parts store will carry it. No matter the quality, just ask for H-1. What you want to spend depends on you.

My drivers side headlight went out on my 05 jaguar x-type and i changed the bulb and even checked the owners manual to locate the fuse to see if it was blown. What other problem could it be?

As you have changed the bulb and also checked the fuse, it could be a wiring problem somewhere? Have you looked at the plug that the bulb goes into, is it rusted, are all the wires connected? That'd would be my next place to look.. :)

How do you get the headlight bulb out to change on the 2001

outer/inner bulb, remove top black plastic cover that runs the lenth of the front of the car behind lights, turn the circular cover covering bulb anti-clockwise and remove, you will see a spring clip, push this clip towards the bulb and downwards, this will release the bulb, fitting is the reverse and the bulb will only fit in one position. It is awkward and space is tight
