SOURCE: oil pressure fluctuating

The sensor could be failing to read the lower pressure when the engine RPM slows down. Or the pump could be failing. I would replace the sensor and see if that doesn't correct the problem

SOURCE: The oil pressure gauge drops to zero for about 3

Two things could be low on oil, or the pick up screen to the oil pump is starting to get clog, I have seen this a few time's on this type of truck here at my repair shop.

SOURCE: check gauges and no oil pressure in 03 ram hemi 4x4

Had the truck the truck to the shop and they said it was the sensor. I had it replaced and it hasn't screwed up since. If you search out this problem on the net, this is a problem with engine and its oil pressure sensor. Apparently, Chrysler is aware of the problem.

a mechanical gauge properly installed using copper line not plastic is a good idea ( plastic gets hard and breaks or melts if it gets hot)
do not consider turning off the light or the noise as it will hide a pressure failure
remember that the average driver doesn't look at the gauges while driving

1 st take out the sensor and install a manual oil pressure gauge and see what you have, at idol you should have atleast 30 psi oil pressure if you have less, then you have issues with the oil pump or your screen is clogged, but i would take out the oil pan, clean the screen and change oil pump, especialy if it's chattering, that's metal to metal contact, not good for a engine.

If the valve lifters are quiet you most likely have oil pressure even with gauge showing "0".Sounds like the oil pressure switch going bad.I would try that first.

2002 jeep wrangler oil pressure gauge drops

When the gauge is at 0, is there any noise from the engine (tick, knock etc?) I would have someone put a mechanical gauge on there and read true pressure.Your driving pressure seems OK but if the low number is "real" something is wrong!

Oil pump

only way to know for sure would be to drop the oil pan and check the oil pump sump for debris clogging it, is there any Hollow Knocking noises ? or just top end rattling ? or No noise at all ?

Have you checked the oil pressure with a mechanical gauge? Sounds like the oil pump isn't putting out enough pressure and/or volume at idle speed.
