Question about 1999 Honda Civic
Hi, I have a 1999 Honda civic LX 118Kmil, and I'm having a little problem with it.Okay so fist thing is when I turn my car on sometimes my rpm goes up to like 2.5k-3K and when it's normal it's like 1k rpm.Second thing is when I have my car idling and I turn on my AC, my rpm drops to very low like 400-500 (and sometimes compressor starts making like weird pumping noise, and AC dyies! But when I'm driving it's fine, very cold!)Third thing is sometimes when I drive or idling all if my llights start to flash! and SRS lights comes on time to time. I did ALOT of testing with voltage, and I'm getting good voltage from battery and alternator. So I think it may has something to do with my throttle or something, really don't want to take it to the shop!
There is a wiring problem with some of them the wire shorts under the intake manifold that runs to the alternater. also the alternator on them seam to have a mind of their own and only work when they HAVE to and test good when load tested replace alt if the wires arent shorted

if it is the front front just a screw and pull out the light/ if it is the rear then you will have to dtrim the rear trim cover for access and with a 10 mm socket take the bolts off and pull the light out / Please rate my response thank you very much

Here's a quick check list for most common cost of SRS / Air bag problem.
Dirty contacts on driver and passenger seat belt buckles
Dirty contacts on seat belt connectors (under seats)
Dirty contacts on driver and passenger sides weight sensors (under seat)
Weight on passenger seat
(Example: grocery package trigger SRS / Air Bag light on the way home.)
I recommend you to pass an vacuum over the contacts and use CRC electronic parts cleaner to rule out connectivity problem.
I DO NOT disconnecting the negative battery connector to clean the code(s)
Without the code(s) the dealer will takes "BILLABLE" time to reproduce the problem.
Please rate me answer if it is useful to you.

I'm having the same problem. Just so you know, I just got a thing in the mail from Honda for my 2001 Honda Civic DX Sedan for a recall on the airbag system (SRS is part of the same system as airbags, I think). Hope this gives you a bit more info!!
