I can't find the Alternator Fusible Link...

My car won't start, turn over, or anything. I still have power to the dash board, interior lights, headlights and so forth. I have tested the battery and the alternator and they are fine, the cables are fine. Can anyone tell me where to find the fusable link on this vehical?

Your problem is the ignition switch under the dash on top of the steering collum. Autozone has them for about $15. If you need help replacing let me know.

Why won't my car start? no lights interior/exterior.

It seems that the battery is incapable of holding a charge. You might try disconnecting the battery cables and try charging the battery again over night. Reconnect and see if anything works - if nothing works - it's time for a new battery.

Why doesnt my pontiac g6 turn on it makes no nois eor anything and i checked the battery alternator and starter but not the ignition switch

Not enough information.
Is the car completely dead electrically, or does it do things like:
-interior lights operate when door is open
-dash lights operate when key is turned to 'run'
-starter turns when key is turned to 'start'
If you have no electrical power to anything, I would definitely start checking under the hood first. A voltmeter is the tool that will help you the most here.
-Battery terminals tight, battery not dead, cables (both power and ground) carry current where it belongs (zero ohms). Tight electrical connections everywhere.
- The underhood fuse panel contains nearly all the fuses, fusible links, and relays needed for your engine to run. Checking with a voltmeter is quicker than pulling and visually inspecting components.

My tail lights and dash board lights do not work. Fuse was out so I changed it but it went out as soon I as I turned the lights on. What should I do?

Perhaps when a fusible link melted it crossed some wires and blew an unrelated fuse. Cut open the wrapping on the bundle of wires under the hood coming from the firewall and see if anything is melted. If so look for the fusible link and replace.

Did you replace the battery and alternator at the same time?Sometimes if you have a bad alternator and you put a new battery in,the bad alternator can completley drain your battery.

I changue alternator and batery my batery light still flashing on dash board

  • Hi, I can help.

  1. First thing you need to do is check your connections real well.
  2. Second thing you need to do is to see it the alternator is sending voltage to the battery. Take a multi-meter and set it on DCV for Direct Current Volts. Set it to 20 Volts if you are able to. Now start the car and set the positive terminal of your meter on the cable clamp that is on the battery (not the battery post). Do the same with the negative terminal on your meter.
  3. You should see around 14 volts. If you see non then the fusible link could be at fault. If you see say 10 Volts then the alternator is not putting out enough. You may have a faulty alternator. Now turn on the headlights and defrost to put the alternator under a load and see what the voltage is. It should remain steady and not fluctuate accept when the lights and defrost are first turned on.
  4. Now the fusible link is a smaller gauge or metal that is inside the wire cable itself between the the big red power wire between the alternator and the battery. Usually not far off the alternator. If this blows it acts like a fuse and interrupts the flow of power and your light will remain on your dash because the alternator cannot charge the battery. Fell the wire and the fuse-able link will be hard inside the insulation if it is blow. This would have to be replaced.
  5. also make sure the serpentine belt is on good and tight and not slipping as it makes the alternator spin and charge the battery.

I recently changed my Solenoid on my 1990 Ford F150 and I accidentally put the battery post on the wrong terminals on the battery and the fusible link wire connected to the alternator started smoking and...

first of all change the fusible link, there should be 2 others so follow the positive wire connected to the battery , if any of these blow out, the mapping of power stops at them

No power

perhaps fusible link, in the hot wire from the battery to the dash, a short wire that looks as though it is plugged in to the cable, not obviousto view whjen blown has to be bent
