You need a 10MM socket with a 3" extension bar at least if not longer.  I believe there are 3 bolts you have to remove they are hard to see use a flash light look in between the bumber and the light you may have to reach it from under the bumper.  once you have the bolts off you have to give it a good pull, there is a plastic ball joint that will keep it form coming right off. Putting it back on is the hard part, lining the ball joint up and getting it to snap in is tricky.  Good luck!

How do i remove the head light on a 2008 chevy Malibu

Headlights grow dimmer by up to 20% over time and eventually burn out - for this reason, we recommend changing your headlights in pairs. Changing both headlight bulbs on your Malibu at the same time will allow both bulbs to have the same intensity and prevent the new headlight bulb from appearing brighter than the bulb on the opposite side. In some Chevrolets, the highbeam is the same bulb as the headlight and it is possible for the highbeam to work, but the headlight be burnt out even if they are the same bulb (and vise versa). Some Chevrolets have high intensity discharge headlights, sometimes referred to as xenon lights. These bulbs have a very high voltage that runs through them, even if the battery is disconnected. If your Malibu has this type of bulb, we do not recommend that you attempt to change it yourself.

When you change the headlight on your Malibu, it is important to not touch the glass part of the bulb with your fingers because the oil from your fingertips will cause that part of the bulb to burn hotter, which significantly shortens the life of the bulb.

Hope this helps! :)

Tip

Make your new head light bulb last longer.

The new style head lights of today,is crazy.I do not know why they can not just stick to one style bulb,But they can get expensive, and changing them ,is getting like a act of congress.I just want to change mine one time ,and do not want to do that. But anyway, most people know,on these new style replacement bulbs, you can not touch the bulb glass. If you do,it will leave a oil residue on the glass of the bulb, and it will burn the bulb out sooner than it is supposed to.Keep this in mind, and do just that.If you accidentally touch the glass of the bulb, clean it off good, with alcohol ,and install the bulb.Make sure the housing the bulb goes in,has no moister in it,if it does, find the hole in the housing, and repair it with clear silicone, but dry it out first. Now when you get the new bulb,I suggest cleaning the bulb, with alcohol anyway, even if you do not touch it,for this will ensure that it has no oil contaminate on it.You never know who may have pulled the bulb out of the box and handled it.Also, while packaging,it is possible some one, along the way, could have handled the bulb. This way,you will be sure the bulb will last a long time. Now on the total long life of a headlight bulb is figured on how many hours they have been used.Keeping this in mind,do not drive with out the use of headlights in the dark, but when it starts to get dark,in the late evening, use your running lights,or parking lights only, until the headlights are actually needed. Now there is the case of daytime running lights, they will stay on,as long as the vehicle is running, nothing we can do about that, and if it is raining,be safe, turn your head lights on folks,be safe.

My car 2003 altima I need change light bulb. need know how to remove head light to change the bulb.

You don't have to remove the headlight to change the bulb. The bulb can be removed from the back of the headlight, usually by turning the bezel ring that holds the bulb onto the headlight housing. Just make sure you do not touch the glass part of the bulb while replacing it or it will burn out again fast.

I need to replace low beam head light lamp, right side. 2002 dts

Pop the hood, remove the plastic cover over the radiator, remove 3 screws holding headlight assembly, yank forward, remove plastic plate on the back of the assembly, carefully twist and remove old bulb, replace new one the same way. Remember to change both headlights (even if the other one still works!) Changing only one will cause the older one to burn out quickly and besides, you'll have different brightness levels. Hope that helps.

Headlights need changing

Your headlights are not sealed beams. You have to find the light. You have to twist the bulb bracket a quarter of a turn in order to unlock it. You pull the bracket out and change the bulb. Do NOT touch the new bulb with your bare hands. The oil from your skin will cause the halogen bulb to get tooo hot and will burn out. When you change your bulb, you might as well change both of them.

How do i change the front head light

Not much room in this model to change a headlight bulb for I owned one. The plastic covering ablove the headlights need to be removed. They will pull upward out of the way. If its below 60 degrees the snaps holding the cover in may snap off but they are still functional if they break off. Now you can see the headlight bulb sockets in the headlamp assembly. Have heavy gloves on to eliminate cuts and abraisions. The sockets simply twist out. Replace the bulbs without any skin contact for the oils from our skin tend to burn out these bulbs instantly

Replacing headlights

headlights are changed from within the engine compartment... if it's the side the battery is on.. it will likely need to be removed first... do not touch the bulbs with your fingers as that shortens their life.
