Question about 2001 GMC Yukon

1 Answer

Fuel pump I want to pump bad fuel out of my 2001 Yukon, so I unhooked the fuel line from the filter and I need to turn on the fuel pump to pump it out of the fuel tank. I tried to turn on the ign. switch without result. Can you tell me where the harness is located or how to jump the wires. I know that it will pump fuel while cranking.

How can I tell if my fuel filter is bad on a 2001 Yukon xl or if it's the fuel pump

Take off the fuel filter and see if it's clogged up. If it not clogged up, hook up a fuel pressure gage to the fuel line while you already have the filter off, then check the pressure coming from the fuel pump.

Replaced fuel sending unit in my 2001 yukon. Hesitates to start. Cracked a nipple on the black filter canister on the side of fuel tank.

If you cracked the nipple then the fuel line is not going to be able to hold the pressure in the fuel line that is needed for the truck to start correctly. What is happening is pressure is being released through that crack allowing fuel to flow backwards. Until you get that fixed you could turn the key and let the fuel pump run till it shuts off, turn the key off then repeat a couple times so it gets fuel back up to the engine and see if it starts up.

I have an 2001 Yukon 5.3 liter and about to do

IF U HAVE A BAD FUEL PUMP OR A FUEL
FILTER BUT THE FUEL PUMP BAD BECAUSE OF THE FILTER MORE THAN LIKELY SO I WOULD REPLACE BOTH IF THE PRESSURE IS NOT BETWEEN 45 PSI AND 55 PSI. GOOD LUCK CHEAPEST PLACE FOR A PUMP AND FILTER IS ADVANCE AUTO PARTS JUST REPLACED THE ONE IN MY TAHOE.

2001 yukon xl every 40 miles acts like its running out of fuel..turn off for 30 seconds and runs fine for another 40 miles then does it every 10 minutes and crank sensor has been replaced. wheres the fuel...

Not sure of filter location but it sounds like pump may be failing...when they do, they bind when they get hot, when cooled down, they work for a short time and then do the same thing again. Likely you will find the filter in the line near the tank...won't hurt to replace it first.

i had the same prob last week and it turned out to be the fuel pump. easiest way to see if that is the prob unhook the fuel line before the fuel filter and turn key and see if the fuel pumps good if nothing then theres the prob.

My GMC yukon XL 2001 engine runs after 4 times of cranking.

Try turning key to on only, not start, 2 or 3 times first then try to start. If it starts good first try, then I'd change my fuel filter & then have fuel pressure tested if fuel filter didn't help. You may be looking at a new pump, but lets do filter & test fuel pressure first.
