Question about 1995 Jeep Wrangler

1 Answer

Temperature guage shows hot

The temperature guage will randomly shoot through the red while parked or stopped in drive/neutral. Runs just a shade above the midline during normal driving. Engine does not seem to be too hot immediately after driving. No signs of leaking radiator fluid. Replaced thermostat 6 months ago.

You need to make sure you have enough coolant in the radiator and oil in the car its better to take it in before you do some damage even that the engine is not hot its heating up inside very fast

My temperature guage stays in the middle, is this ok?

Yes, the temperature gauge should normally stop in the middle, between the cold and hot points on the gauge. When the engine is cold the thermostat will be closed and will keep recirculating the coolant in the engine block until it warms up sufficiently. Then the temperature of the warm coolant will cause the thermostat to open the channel to the radiator to get rid of excess heat, which should stop the coolant from over heating. So the effect of the thermostat keeps the coolant at a fairly stable temperature. When the coolant runs low, it can't transfer enough heat to the radiator and the coolant and engine then over heats. Watch for radiator leaks under your car after you have been driving it. If the coolant goes low again fairly quickly you could have a leak in a hose or the radiator itself.

On a 2000 toyota celica gt, the engine will overheat when driving only, what can cause this?

Have you checked the engine temperature when the gauge shows fully high if it is true message and not lying and the problem is the temperature gauge? Since this happened stop the car open the bonnet touch the radiator hoses and even with off running engine touch the vents of the radiator to all surface and see it the temperature is everywhere the same.

1996 nissan maxima overheating

i believe the question was explained as fans work!! why all the fan inop answers?? anyway...you will need to check the water pump first...if you change it then make sure your cataltic converters are not plugged. from there its ussually a combustion leak from cracked or defective head gaskets due to the mileage. if it stays cool at idle its deff not a cooling fan problem..the fans only are used primary at idle. hope this helps

Since you just replaced the thermostat and it still over heats there is a good chance you have air in your cooling system. You can find step buy step instructions on my tip and how to page. Feel free to take a look.

The sensor for the fans is in the rad at the bottom. T-stat may be bad or the rad may be clogged. Cooling system needs attention.
