Ckeck engine light came on took it to get it ckecked. they said it was my coolant temp sensor. replaced it but my light is still on. is there some kind of reset

this does not mean the sensor is defective, it most likely means the engine thermostat is stuck open and the engine is not running hot enough to satisfy the computers preset temp requirements for minimum eng operating temp.

Im actually going through the process of fixing this problem with my car. the P2181 is a performance cooling error, usually brought up by thermostat, radiator issues, or ECT sensor. You should narrow it down and check both radiator and thermostat to prevent later issues. If all is well go to your local autozone, pep boys, checkers..etc. and have them erase the DTC error. If you are looking for a more long term solution you can purchase many different software such as VAG-COM or any other software used to run test on vehicals. Be sure you know what you are doing though because messing with your cars computer can have long term effects that can be pricey.

u can clear/reset the check engine light either with a scan tool, hit clear codes, or u can just disconnect the battery, the scanner clearing method is preferred as disconnecting the battery can cause temporary stalling issues.

You have a coolant level sensor on the side of the coolant reservoir that sends a signal to the light. Sounds like yours either needs cleaned or changed.

over heating will probably be the cause of most problems as it sends the ECM crazy with so many sensors inputting information
If you have a viscous fan hub then replace it as it is the prime cause of overheating .have a compression test done to check head gasket and cracks
If you have electric fans make sure that they are working
ckeck coolant level at the radiator cap

Hi charlene ,to ckeck if it's the fans disconnect the eng temp sensor wire and put it to earth , the engine block is fine , if fans start ,ignition , then its the temp sensor at issue if they dont start replace the temp sensor, any decent mechanic would do this to give a proper diagnosis , dont let them rip you off keep me posted

Engine ckeck light turns on even running by octane.

engine lights are there to let you know that the parameters for safe engine / gear box operation have been exceeded and you need to check oil levels , coolant levels , drive belts and temperature range .. Run fault codes to detect which sensors raised the alarms.

Air intake

Code 110 means the signal the computer is getting from the intake air temp sensor is out of range. The sensor and wiring would need to be checked.

Code p1131

The codes are for a lean fuel mixture.
Since more than one sensor is giving this reading, I would suspect low fuel pressure or other fuel problems.
Could also be a problem with the cooling system and the coolant temp sensor or air temp sensor not telling the computer the air is cold.

Tempature gauge still goes to h

, ckeck the upper hose to see if it is hot , than ckeck the bottom hose , is it cool , the temp sould be about the same .if it is super hot on top and cold at the bottom hose , the raditor may be blocked, and the coolant is not flowing. you can try to flush the radiator . look to see if there metal shaving in the coolant . if there is the radiator is breaking down. this happen to me , my car would over heat change radiator car is a,ok easy fix . radiator barn .com
