Change Thermostat in 2007 Chevy 2500 HD

The parts dealer gave me two thermostats for this truck and I don't know where the second one goes and neither does the dealer. His parts information indicates that two are required for my truck. Where does the second one go?

I've never heard of 2 thermostats before. buy a haynes repair maual from local autostore and it will tell you. about 18$ if a dealer can't tell you, sounds fishy to me.

SOURCE: Where does second thermostat in 2007 Chevy 2500 hd go?

If you have a duramax diesel engine it goes next to the other one. They would both be in the same housing. If you have a Gas engine it will only use 1 t-stat.

Make sure the thermostat was the right temp range. Had same problem on ford truck and parts store gave me a 160 when it should have been a 180 degree thermostat.

Why don't you buy a quality thermostat at auto parts
store ,install yourself & end that problem?

They don't fail, your not being told what ever is happening

Forget the dealer after the warranty runs out & go to a honest
& knowledgeable repair shop

Do you know what the codes are, whenever you get a check light ?

You need talking with the parts guy at the GM dealer You need the "new" style thermostat housing to be able to change just the thermostat. So I ordered a new thermostat housing assembly. Here is what I got, a new aluminum two piece housing and thermostat. Hopefully tomorrow I can get this car back on the road and out of my shop.

How to replace a Thermastat on a 2003 Chevy silverado 2500 HD

The thermostat is located in the water pump on mostn never Chevy trucks. If you pull the upper fan shroud, you should see the thermostat housing. Remove the radiator hose, then the 2 bolts for the housing. Replace the thermostat, and gasket together.
