Question about 1997 Ford Explorer AWD
Engine turns, turns on after 5 seconds of cranking but as soon as i let the key go, it dies. I was driving it fine on wensday, then come sunday, it doesnt stay on. I knw i got gas going to the engine, cuz of the obivous smell. i'm wondering if changing the spark plugs and spark plug wires will help. (my car has an overheating prob, but has made no noise or givin me problems otherwise than this, ) My battery, starter and alternater are all new,( just put them in a yr ago)
Could be the ignition switch. When you crank the engine, the ignition coil gets a voltage source that is different than when the car runs. This would give you the symptom you describe.
