My Accessory Power Outlets on a 200 GMC Jimmy are not working

My Accessory Power Outlets on a 2000 GMC Jimmy were working great and now they have stopped. I wanted to know if this is caused by a blown fuse and if so which fuse is it?

I checked every fuse and they are all good.

  • jasbday35 Dec 31, 2008

DOes anyone know what fuse exactly? I am lost here!

  • jasbday35 Dec 31, 2008

I have a fuse group at both locations. One is on the side of the drivers column panel, the other is under the hood.

  • jasbday35 Dec 31, 2008

I looked at all of the fuses that could be related to this issue and they all were working.

The cigarette lighter works. It is the accessory outlets that have quit working.

  • jasbday35 Dec 31, 2008

The lighter works, it is just the accesory outlets that have quit working.

  • jasbday35 Dec 31, 2008

The cigarette lighter does work. It is the Accessory outlets that do not work. I do not want to get this confused.

I would have a professional have a physical look at this and determine the problem, because this is hard to determin from behind a computer.

There's no doubt that the problem is a 'fuse'. I'll bet your cigarette lighter doesn't work either. They are undoubtedly on the same line.
I have a 2001 Blazer with the same problem. The fuse box is under the hood on the driver's side, but there's no accessory or lighter fuse in it. They apparently use a 'fusible link' in place of a standard fuse. Unfortunately this could be anywhere in the circuit (not necessisarily in the. same place in any 2 trucks)
GM did some very strange things electrically on this model! (ie.:when my driver's door latch ($300.00) broke, the dome light stayed on & tailgate glass latch stopped working)
Anyhow, you'll need to trace the entire circuit from the outlets to the battery. You're looking for a part of the wire (usually 4"-8") that feels and usually looks different than the rest of that particular circuit.
It usually feels more 'rubbery' and is a little thicker, although it is more flexible.
When you find it (make sure that you have disconnected your negative battery cable - one end is still live!), cut out that entire section & take it with you to the parts store, they should have replacement fusible link wire. It should be soldered back into the cicuit for the best connection. Good Luck!

I guess that I was wrong about the cigarette lighter being on the same circuit. Anyway, I'd still trace the wiring for a fusible link. Even the (several different) wiring Diagrams I've found don't show a cigarette lighter or accessory power circuit. We have both in our trucks though.

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Initially, if the Accessory Power Outlet is the only at not operational, I doubt if it is the fuse. To my understanding, fuse/breaker #2 supplies both the Cigarette Lighter and the Data Link Connector.

If #2 fuse/breaker checks out, then possibly a wiring issue. Since there would be only 2 wires involved, it should be relatively easy to check with a volt/continuity meter. Offhand, I would suspect the ground wire to the cigarette lighter housing to be more of a possibility.

Good luck and Thank you for using FixYa. Happy New Year.

Is your fuse group under the hood or the drivers kick panel?

Have you called an eletrician at your local dealership? This repair seems to be going all over the place. You want one of their light duty technicians who can probably look it up and answer your question on the head.

My cigarette lighter works but none of the 3 power accessory outlets do. Where or what other fuse can I check. Manual does not show a fuse place for the power accessory outlets. Can you help

If its a factory item then it has a fuse in one of the fuse panels, under hood, under dash, on ends of dash, or even under the front or back seats. If its one someone installed then the fuse is somewhere in it's positive wire, stuffed under the dash or behind the console.

Left side of the dash, to the right of the IP fuse block. Its a 25 amp circuit breaker, an aluminum cased breaker. CHECK FOR POWER ON THE SEAT SWITCH "A" TERMINAL AND GROUND ON THE "D" TERMINAL. IF YOU HAVE POWER AND GROUND THE SWITCH IS BAD.

2000 Jimmy Heater

The shift lever where you adjust where the heat needs to go may be the problem. It's mechanical, and if it functions except defrost, then it sounds more like a mechanical problem w/ the heat adjustment. Unless you aren't getting heat at all.
