Yes because there isn't enough room to remove it through the bottom so u will have to remove the air intake going to ur air filter box and the water hose going to ur radiator and the fan cowling but u don't have to totally remove the fan cowling just unbolt it and the pump should fit. I did this about a week ago it was that hard either. But I had a stripped bolt so I was a pain to get to the bolt. I wound up cutting my bolt off and replacing it with a new one.

Do i have to remove my timing belt in order to replace my water pump in my 1997 ford thunderbird lx its a 4.6 v8

Your car use3s a timing chain not a belt. The water pump will be serviced by first removing the serpentine belt and then removing the water pump pulley and then finally removing the water pump. It is a fairly easy pump to replace.

If you have any further question please ask I I will be happy to help.

I have a 1995 Thunderbird with a 4.6 V8 that acts like it wants to start and sometimes will, but in a second or two it seems to run out of fuel. I have just replaced the Mass air unit as when it was...

Have you checked the EGR valve? The Backpressure Valve? The IAC (Idle Air Control Valve?) Those are the other parts in the motor besides the fuel pump that could be bad.

Have to wait till electroic engine fan shuts off to start engine it is a 97 thunderbird lx v8

This sounds as if the (pcm) Powertrain control module has a ground circuit. It will need to be replaced.

put an mustang 5.0 if you want real fast put cool air intake and headers with 2.5 inch exhust and 20 series flow master and dual all the way out the back cost a little bit but well worth it if you wanna smash on little imports ,mustang, camaro you mostlikly have the 8.8 rearend witch is a good rearend and you can gear it to your needs for quickness or speed however you want it for your motor .
