Question about 1989 Chevrolet S-10 Blazer
I need to replace my alternator. The only problem is I don't know how to relieve the tension on my serpentine belt. I would like some kind of diagram if possible. I really have no idea where to even start or look.
With a serpentine belt, there is a tensioner pulley, so use a socket on a breaker arm placed on the bolt of the tensioner. Turn it until the belt goes slack. It helps to get someone else to hold that in place while you remove the alternator.

You really don't need a diagram but if so purchase a Chiltons manual for your vehicle at checkers etc. They are about 15 bucks and are well worth it you will have it whenever you need to repair just about anything on your vehicle they are great and inexpensive - Hope this helps
