Since this is a 3.3L engine with 3speed or 4speed transmission this is the A604 tranny. This transmission is the only one offer in that model year...Good Luck

Have to check the unit model in each vehicle
The 1991 is an OBD1 & the 1997 is OBD2 --so
it won't work if it does match up mechanically

Location of speed sensor on transmission 1997 gr caravan 3.3 engine

The input speed sensor is right below where the cooler lines are clamped the the transmission. The output speed sensor looks exactly the same as the input and is located to the right ( as you standing in front of the vehicle) of the input speed sensor.

1997 dodage grand caravan sport, when shifting from park to drive it makes a ticking noise, do you know what this could be? the car shifts fine and runs fine 126,000 miles.

The electronic shift solenoids in those transmissions make a ticking noise when shifting, same as when you slow down and stop, you will hear it as well, if it's quiet and your window is down. My guess is what your hearing is normal but if worried, stop at any reputable mechanic shop, or dealer and they will confirm it, free of charge.

2001 dodge caravan 3,3L

I was working for a company that used 1995 Caravan's for their sales force and I do not know of any sensor. I am confused by the term "cover".

Do you mean valve cover? If so does the sensor go somewhere? I can solve your problem, but I need move info. Please call or email me.

Either, way let me know the outcome. Your feed back is my only reward. Also, please rank my answer with as many thumbs as you think I should get.

I replaced the transmission now it wont go in revers and the speedometer bounces back and fourth from 0 to a 100 revving the engine up and down and it will only drive about 20 to 40 miles mph this is on a...

i wonder if you got a faulty solenoid pack...which is the housing that bolts to the top of the transmission and is what houses all the shifting solenoids. if that is stuck in low range position, you will get what you have been describing. possibly fluid, or check the transmission linkages, and make sure the shifter cable is hooked up right in the right position. Make sure it moves freely and EASILY too..if all checks out, then possibly you have a bad transmission.

CAN I TOW MY 2001 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN BEHIND MY MOTOR HOME

typically, it is not a good idea. the transmission pump only runs if the engine is turning. towing it would mean that some of the transmission gear train is spinning, but without proper lubrication. This will burn up the transmission over time. aftermarket kits are available for some models to resolve this issue, but i'm not too familiar with them.
