Question about 1997 Chevrolet Monte Carlo

1 Answer

Monte carlo trouble code p0341

My wife's 1997 Chev. monte carlo had a check engine light.
I bought a little trouble code reader.
It was ''p0341''.
Websites said something about a cam position sensor.
Most likely a fault or bad sensor or bad sensor reading.
One test was to clear it and see if it reappears.
Because if it is an ongoing problem, it will trip it again.

The check engine light has not reappeared in the past 30 days or so.
The car appears to be running fine, like it always has.
The car never sounded off or anthing like that.
It was just that light that came on that I was looking into.
I wondered what the problem seemed to be since things appeared to run fine.

Any input??

Flashing check engine light on 1997 Monte Carlo

If the CHECK ENGINE light come on, the PCM (computer car) have stored a fault code there; I suggest scanned this and note what fault code is there. Sometimes Autozone or AutoShop make this reader with OBD tools for free.

Keep in touch.

You'll need someone to scan the computer for the trouble codes. Most auto parts stores will scan for free in hopes of selling you some parts.
Once you get the codes you can research them online.

Anytime a Check Engine Light Comes On there is a code. Even if it isnt on when they go to pull the code it is still in the cars computer as a history code and can still be pulled. There lying to you, you NEED to know the code before you can ATTACK the problem so you know what area the problem is in.

1996 monte carlo had codes P0341, P0441, and P1655 come up. help!!!! how much work or cost is this gonna be for me?

P0341: Its a Camshaft Position Sensor (CPS) $30 to $40
P0441: Evaporative Emission Control System Incorrect Purge Flow.
P1655: Evaporative Purge Solenoid Control Circuit. $18 to $24

Looks like you have an Emission problem and if you buy the parts and put them your self, Then it will be cheaper. Good luck

Hard start and engine hesitation at highway speed

The PO441 has to do with your HO2S 2 (Oxygen sensor). You need to check to make sure the wire is not off of the sensor and check the grounds to the Oxygen sensor. Could be a bad Oxygen Sensor. The other code has to do with your Evap system Purge solenoid circuit. Has to do with detecting an improper voltage level. Could be a shorted Purge solenoid.
