2007 Lincoln Town Car Limited-can't program garage door entry key

My mother just purchased a pre-owned 2007 Lincoln Town car and it didn't come with a manual. The dealership is trying to find us one. I've been trying to program her garage door entry buttons that are on the sun visor but they won't program. I have an Acura MDX and all you have to do is hold the garage door opener up to the button and hold down both garage door button and the garage door entry key button at the same time until the lights stop flashing and it's programmed. This doesn't seem to work on the Lincoln. Any suggestions?

2007 LINCOLN TOWN CAR SIGNATURE LIMITED KEYLESS ENTRY CODE

  • Anonymous Mar 25, 2014

    Hello All,
I just purchased a 2003 mazda 6sport 3.0L. Next to the moonroof controls it has 3 black buttons (1, 2, C). I assumed that these were for some sort of garage/gate opener but I can not seem to find pictures or directions on how to program them anywhere. Does anybody know what these buttons are used for?
    Thanks,
    -JM

Locked keys in 1999 lincoln town car executive and no keyless entry. can I gain entrance without an expensive locksmith?

Hello Jennifer Jackson...

No... even LINCOLN windows are harder to break
(sorry... your LINCOLN is pretty secure).

Worse... the best price I've paid to get a double sided
PATS (passive anti-theft system) key cut = $6.

Bring your own key... But this was all about the price of PREVENTING your current situation... (oops).

If your ONLY key is truly "inside"...
Your goose is pretty much cooked... The cost of
the LOCKSMITH is pretty trivial compared to your
alternatives... Dealers will zing you MUCH BETTER
than your "expensive locksmith"...

But what ever you do... (my recommendation)... Since
you prefer not to be prepared... (no door code or FOB)
Don't pass on the opportunity to have that same SMITHY
at least tell you about your door code POSSIBILITIES
or at least program a remote FOB for you ...

A RESPONSIBLE "expensive locksmith" will
explain the WISDOM of NEVER having less than 2 (TWO) transponder keys. (by reading your owners manual you can program the FOBs yourself (FREE).

How do you manage the "no" keyless entry...?
I remain pretty sure the number pad... & KEY FOB
(wireless transmitter) were standard equipment...

2 SPARE keys minimum... ALWAYS.

How do you program key fob for a 1997 lincoln

From the 1997 Town Car owners manual... Up to 4 transmitters must be programmed at the same time:
1. Enter the factory keyless entry code. (not personal code)
2. Press the 1/2 button
3. Press one button on each of the transmitters to be programmed. Each transmitter button must be pressed within 7 seconds of the prior one. Each time a transmitter is successfully programmed, all of the vehicle doors will lock and then unlock to verify programming.

What would you do when your 1996 lincoln town car doors won't lock with the key. And the trunk won't open.

How can a lock not lock or unlock with a physical key? Maybe the cylinders are frozen? Try squirting a little oil into the locks.
1996 Town Cars have keys and keyless entry. The physical keys are two, an ignition key and a door key. You can't use the door key in the ignition, nor the ignition key in the door. They aren't interchangeable.
The default key code for keyless entry is posted on the right trunk hinge, inside the trunk.

Town Car 2006 door numeric pad issue

Best way to check the numeric keypad is to press the last 2 buttons simultaneously. (7-8 + 9-0) If you hear the door lock, then the keypad is working. If this is the case, it's possible that the previous owner added their own code. This is done when applying the original code and then immediately entering their own code. This is undone by disconnecting the negative battery cable for 10mins. This should restore the keyless entry back to the factory defaults meaning your original code should now work.

Hope this solves your problem. Best of luck and please post back with any other questions.

Key pad on door

I'm assuming you bought the car somewhere other than a Ford/Lincoln dealer (which is OK) because I would expect a Ford/Lincoln dealer to provide all three keys, two remotes, a manual, etc as well as the lock code. I too just purchased an 07 TC. The dealer provided the code for me, but said there are three ways to determine the code (in order of preference):

1. Usually there is a white unlabeled paper sticker with the code number (5 digits) on one of the trunk hinges, but often times it is removed when the car is detailed or the previous owner may have removed it.

2. There may be another similar sticker on the control unit on the right side fender under the hood, again same scenario as above.

3. Any Ford/Lincoln/Mercury dealer can pull the code from the car computer, hopefully for free or nearly free if the car is still under factory warranty, regardless of where you purchased your car.

If you're stuck with option three, particularly if the factory warranty is still good, and even if it isn't, put on a clean shirt, be nice but make 'em step up. After all, even though we may have paid alot less now, these cars MSRP was $45,000 and up only a year ago so they should still treat you and me like gold.

Best of Luck!
