You sent me info on lubricating center console lock. This is my brothers truck, so I am not familiar when it was new.
Is console supposed to ever lock in up psoition? Why?
If it is supposed to lock in upright position, what are the proper steps to lower it, if everything is working right?
All I could figure out is that there may be an interlock device to keep console lid form beign opened when console is in up position and the interlock device is mal functioning?

Re: Dodge Center Console
When I told you to lube it, I was assuming you were talking about the cup holder in the center, lower part of the dash, if I was correct then the proper way to open it if its working properly is the push in on it and then it should come down to expose the cup holders. To close it you lift it and push in on it to lock back in the upright position.

The linear shift cable (Also called Park Lock Cable) is sticking. This happens a lot due to beverages getting spilled in the center console. Removing the center console and cleaning and lubricating the shift mechanism and the end of the cable usually fixes the problem. In other cases, the cable must be replaced.
