I have the same problem, all is ok if I start the engine everyday, but let it sit for a few days during wet weather and no. Plus the problem get worst after several months and I have to change the cap/rotor all together. How would insuring the 2 small breath holes make a difference, would they not allow moisture into the cap area????

If it has been rainy, snowy or wet at all were you live you will need to change the cap and rotor. These vortec motors with the horizontel cap are very well known for not starting when damp. Also while you have the cap off there are two holes in the bottom of the distributer with screens in them, clean these out or remove them to keep the moisture from returning.

Fuel pressure, fuel pressure, fuel pressure. engine runs on less pressure than it needs to start. Have that fuel pump checked

I have a 1999 dodge mach 3 conversion van, v-6 3.9. It has been stalling off and on and sometimes in the morning would not start like it was flooding up... I cleaned the IAC motor and ran fine for a week...

try replacing the camshaft positioning sensor.this little sensor can cause you more headaches then an exwife but at least the sensor is easily cured, any way start there its inexpensive and a fairly easy job.Hope this helps good luck.

I think you should check your battery and alternator. If they both check good you may have a battery draw, something draining the battery over night.Check your doors make sure they are closing like they should.

WILL NOT START

sounds like water ingress to either a control module or the coil pack, check all control box locations eg footwells for water and then check the engine bay for loose or naked wires, dry and clean and possibly cover with a plastic bag etc and it should be fine.
