Check the car's manual for the location of the fuse box. Usually is either under the driver's steering column covered by a plastic panel or look under the hood. The fuses are labeled in the panel cover. Check to see if the fuse is blown and replace it only with one with the same amperage so you do not create a fire.

Toyota Corolla seca1998 radio/cig not working, replaced fuse for cig and it has worked but for no more than a minute or 2, keeps blowing. Assuming it's something to do with a shortage between the cig fuse...

hi there. ok what I advise is to simply disconnect the cig lighter, then replace fuse and turn on stereo. this will tell you which is causing the problem. if fuse blows its the stereo if fuse is good then its the cig lighter. you may have had a child etc put coins in the slot thinking it a slot machine...ive been there before but sadly it was only pennies....they rattle around in the stereo and hit electrical parts. also look into the cig lighter hole and see if a coin or similar stuck down there bridging the sides with the bottom... simply use your finger to check this and not a screwdriver to short it again.

hope this helps you.

Cigarette lighter blowing fuses

some cig lighter outlets have a U shaped + center pin.
Sometime yer plug's - will engage it. ooops . Look for the two sides of the U and mark the edge of the outlet with red nail polish. Then when inserting the plug with a side pin, orient it away from the paint. Keep more fuses in the glove box

Grandson stuck pennies in the cigarette lighter box, now either of the two work... is it just the fuse? 2005 toyota camry

Yes, if he put any type of copper, medal, or even tin foil or paper clip it probably made contact with the prongs inside the cig lighter, instantly for fire and safety feature it will blow fuse. It is probably a 15 amp fuse. Check your fuse panel, it will say cigar or cig or something like that, just replace with same kind, and your back in business. Please get back to me if problem solved, thanks Mike

Clock and dash lights dont work or radio--

These items clock, radio, dash lights are usually fused on the same circuit. Please check the fuses for this problem. The fuse or fuses should be listed on the fuse box cover inside the interior fuse box. Replace the blown fuse if that is that problem. If it blows again, then the cig lighter circuit may be involved. Make sure the cig lighter is free of any objects, remove lighter, (push in part). Try new fuse while lighter is out, and if problem goes away, push in may be bad.

A penny fell into my driver cig. lighter and now my radio dosnt even come on and my coolent fan wont turn off

You have shorted the circuit and the fuse has most likely blown. Get the coin out, tweezers may help. Once removed, replace the fuse. The fuse panel is usually by the lower drive side area. If not it is in the problem just ask again. good luck

Hi,i'm having trouble with the cig lighter on my car, it keeps blowing fuses. can i wire it directly to the battery with an inline fuse? How would i do this?

you could do this by running 2 wires directly from the battery to the back of the cig lighter and by fusing the positive.if it is only when using the cig lighter and not when charging a phone ect.it could be element on the cig lighter shorting

No power to heat and ac module

The most common problem is a coin or other metallic object falling into the cig lighter and shorting things out. Be certain you do not still have a penny in the bottom of the cig lighter socket. On mine, I just kept blowing fuses until I found it.
