Question about 1998 Mazda 626

1 Answer

I have a mazda 626 , went to get my oil changed and noticed my synthetic 10w30 had been changed to synthetic 5w30 oil. I've never had to specify wich only that I wanted synthetic. My owners manual only recommeds 10w30 and I need to know if this is a problem. Do I need to take my car back to have the 5w30 replaced with 10w30 ? Is my engine going to have damage caused from this happening?

Nope, it's not a problem. The numbers relate to the viscosity or slippery'ness (if thats a word) of the oil. The first number (5 or 10) is the viscosity of the oil when you first start the car. 5 is more slippery than 10. The second number (30) is the operating viscosity of the oil after your car has warmed up.
Simply put, in the winter your oil thickens when it cools down so you need smoother oil (5w30) when you start the car.
Winter = 5w30
Summer = 10w30
Hope this helps.

Mazda 6 2.0 DPF/oil pump failure due to synthetic oil?

While this is possible, it is not always how these things fail. The most likely thing that I can think of that would cause a failure of that level is that maybe the Synthetic oil was too heavy (as in the weight) to actually flow through the oil pump and smaller galleys where oil pressure is crucial.

1993 mazda 626 auto, starts fine when cold, but not when I've driven it for a while.

I would start with a good tune up, including the intake gasket. Changes in temperature could cause gaskets to stop sealing properly letting unmeasured air inside the engine. Also check for fuel filter.

Can I use 5W-30 Synthetic engine oil for my 2008 Honda Accord

I don't see how that would be a problem - - keep in mind if you switch from regular to synthetic you need to stay with it.

How long does a Mazda 626 motor last?

As long as you take good care of it. Things like changing the Engine oil on a regular basis, timing belt when the manual specifies, and all filters, you should be able to easily get at least 300,000 miles, or maybe even more.

because of the age using a 5/40 full synthetic is a waste of money,use 10/40 or 20/50 depending on oil burn.semi synthetic.
