Question about Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme

I'm trying to re-attach the wires for the window swithes on the driver side of my 84 olds and I cannot find a color diagrahm online, also the tiny peices that the wires are clamped to, are they still available in stores, I can't get them open to reuse them. Thanx in advance

If your wire ends are unusuable, you can go to an auto supply and replace them. They will be in an assorted pack ... if not there you can get them at an electric supply like a heat and air place. Be sure to use the identical connecting type to fit properly... I like to solder them on for the best performance after they are crimped... If you have lost or the wire sockets have deterioated beyond use, you will most likely have to check with a salvage yard if your olds dealers cannot get these for you. They are not absolutely necesary but desired for a professional restoration. You may also consider small plastic wire ties. As to the colors for placement of which wire goes where, you can turn on the ignition switch and have someone push the window button while brushing the wires onto the body (bear metal on the door) for a spark after you determine which is the ground. If this does not work then first find the ground and retry. Two of the wires will be hot. One for up and one for down. Once identified, connect the wires in either of two hot termanils on the motor connection for proper operation. I have a 79 old manual in my hands but cannot identify the colors on the window regulators.
Try those thing and let me know if you have other questions.
good luck

No power to driver side window and power lock

most likely you have a short in wiring harness, best thing to do is remove drivers side kick panel that cover next to your left foot while driving you should see a group of 15 to 20 wires wraped together that goes to the drivers door. once you find this grab a test light attach to a good ground remove some of the tape so you can see the wires check to see which ones have power by poking tester into the wires, write down the color code for wires that light up, then pull the power control box and check those same color coded wire when you find the bad one you can run a new wire from where you first checked it to just before the control box you can either solder or crimps then tape it up then the rest of the harness that you opened up as well. Good Luck

Nope 1 fuse controls all the windows. Either its the switch or the window regulators themselves or due to the age the wiring.

is the alarm factory or aftermarket?

If aftermarket - the brain will be under the dash attached somewhere near the steering column.

Look for an 10 or 12 Gauge YELLOW wire that has been cut.

This is your starter wire.

one half goes in one side of the brain, and the other comes out the other side.

either solder or use crimp-connectors to return this yellow wire back to factory.

If you no longer require the alarm - you can do the same for every other wire on the brain.
