Question about 1999 Ford F150 Regular Cab
I have a 1999 ford f150 reg cab w/approx 80300 mi. My Service Engine Soon Light came on this a.m. which has never occurred before.
I erroneously put in Summer Coolant 2 days ago.
Would this cause the light to come on and should I wait for the light to go out or take the truck in for a Diagnostic Test? Thanks Kim
No the coolant wouldn't cause the light to come on,and yes if you don't have the know how to buy and attach an obdii code reader to your truck then you will have to take it to a garage to be sure what the problem is........however the check engine light is a warning that something is experiencing a problem but correction of the problem doesn't have to be immediate, if you can't afford it or don't have the time to have it looked at right away.(keep in mind that with the light on your computer is in limp mode and you will see a drop in fuel mileage)But to get the light to go out you need to either disconnect the battery for 5-10 min or have someone check and reset the light.if you do the battery disconnect to reset it the light may not come back on for some time or may come on right away.last winter i had the light come on for an o2 sensor heater.........i reset the code and never saw it again. so if you can try the battery disconnect reset first if the light comes back on then take it to a garage.
hope this helps!
