I had the very same problem. The problem wasn't the block. A pulley system related to the cooling system needed replacing. Maybe someone here can fill you in on the name of it. Sorry I can't recall it.

Antifreeze leak

The hoses could seem ok but have tiny cracks in them that you can't see if they were not replaced. With antifreeze the flange the hose goes on could be rusting from antifreeze and cutting the hose. Cut the end of the hose past the clamp mark if there is enough slack. and put back on. The clamp could either be too tight and cutting the hose on the metal flange or not tight enough. Squeeze the hose and if you see cracking in the hose replace it. Also, if you over fill it it could be a problem or you got a bad radiator. If it is a tiny leak in the radiator you can use radiator stop leak. http://picsbox.biz/key/radiator%20leak%20sealant. Check all the hoses and clamps and make sure the belt on the water pump is ok too. Good luck. They are a great car and worth the effort especially if you havea V6.

ANTIFREEZE RUNNING OUT OF BOTTOM OF MOTOR

Check the condition on your hoses attached to the radiator. Does it only leak with the engine running? If it comes out right away, have some add water to the coolant reservoir while you check where the leak is coming from...this would be a cheaper way to diagnose it (water is way cheaper than coolant). Make sure you have a bucket or a tray under the car to catch any fluids that are leaking. Also, make sure you dispose of coolant properly (do not pour down drain, take fluids to a local repair shop) Scott

Where do I find the coolant drain plug to replace my coolant on 1997 chevy cavalier?

there isn't a proper drain plug for this type of radiator, nor is there a direct radiator cap either. fun, right?
you can however go about using the lower raditor hose in the same fashion, removing the pressurized overflow bottle cap will greatly aid in drain time and prevent gulping and excessive splashing.
it is a pain to get to without making a mess

My 1994 chevy caprice is leaking water

will try to help. where is the leak coming from? can you tell?under the front of motor where the engine fan is? could be water pump. could be a busted hose, upper or bottom radiator hose.there are 2 hoses that run to your heater core at the firewall or dash panel, could be there. leaking from sides of engine? could be a freeze out plug rusted through or if it's gotten below freezing and you did'nt have anti-freeze, most likely a freeze plug, they are designed to save your engine block from busting when you don't have anti-freeze in freezing weather. if you can repost your problem with a location, front, sides, or inbetween the back of engine and transission, i can help you. hope this helps and thank you for choosing fixya.com

Coolant leak on my chevy beretta from the ac unit

I would say that your heater core or one of the heater core hoses has started to leak. Check the hose clamps to make sure that they are tight. Fill the coolant system and run the car. Check to see where the leak is, you may need to put the car on ramps so that you can see the leak better.

Heater-coolant hoses

If the car has dual-zone heating, then that hose should be teed into the other return hose.
