Code 0325 is for a Knock sensor. Code 0340 is for the Cam sensor #1 if this is an engine with 2 heads and it is an indication of a single sensor on single head engines.

So if you do have a multiple hed engine, you may have removed the good sensor and left the bad sensor in the other head.

Remember to wipe the computer memory after installing new parts.

SOURCE: CAM SENSOR ENGINE LIGHT. MAX RPM 2000 SOMTIMES

I seen this before first of all don't let the car dealer to BS the way to your money, most of the time is noting wrong whit the sensor it self but is the plug than goes in to the sensor this what i recommend is to buy another sensor from your local auto part store or salvage yard (cheaper) get three pieces of cable and solder directly in to the sensor brake the plastic around the sensor plug if necessary and secure the three cables to it put some silicon in between the solder and the place the new sensor on top of the old one so you now wish wire goes to which and cut and attach one by one. I now this works 100% i have done it my self many times if you need diagrams or sensor locations you can find that at www.alldatadiy.com now if you still have problems unplug all harness especially all the ones than comes from the back of the engine because that engine tends to leak oil on top of the harness if you have wires doing shortcut replace that section you can solder use heat string tube and change the insulation hose they sale those on part stores to put some zip tides on the ends and you will have your car back and will last Note don't let it get to close to the exhaust use zip tides to keep from touching hot areas.

SOURCE: 02 PT Cruiser LE w' Code P0340

My thought is to get a refund from the shop that tried to replace parts in order to secure your problem. The job of the shop is to diagnose the problem, not to replace items that may be the problem. Chrysler Master Techs are not trained to just replace parts, they fix the problem by diagnosing it properly.

You need to see a Chrysler dealership so they can attach a DRBIII and tell you exactly what is at stake.

I hope this helps you. I would be mad as heck.

I would not think the plugs and wires would be the problem because they would all have to fail at the same time to provide the symptom you experienced.

1. Get your money back
2. DRBIII

SOURCE: crank shaft sensor? is this the same as cam shaft

no each one has its own job,
crank sensor is counting crank shaft rpms
cam sensor is counting cam shaft rpms
is there any lights coming on just as this is happening?
i think you should have the fuel pressure checked when it dies out,you need at least 50psi at fuel rail

I have 2 engine codes on my 2005 dodge neon. they are p0325 and p0340. the car has problem starting and misses badly for a while. What is the problem and how do i fix it? thanx for the help!

the p0325 code pertains to a knock censor. the p0340 is for your cam shaft sensor. i've had this problem before. try replacing the cam shaft censor first and run the codes again to see if the other still comes up. it should fix the problem. hope this helps

Need to know what dodge codes P0325, P0344 & P0340 mean

0325 knock sensor
0344 cam position sensor intermittent
0340 cam position sensor failure

I would replace the cam position sensor from the codes you provided. The knock sensor
would most likely be related to the sensor failure.

I have a 05 Dodge Neon got round 120500mi on it. Check engine or low oil light come on, car wouldn't go pass 20 or 40 mph, it lose power. I changed battery, timing belt, water pump, camshaft sensor,...

I don't know specifically what the codes are (you could probably google them) but I had this similar issue with a Chrysler and it turned out to be the TCU (transmission control unit) computer. Hope that's NOT it because it was around $800 for me.

I have a 05 Dodge ram 1500 90,000mi. and it start to bog and eng.light came on my codes were p0129-p0405-p0340-p0868 and pending codes were p0129-p0325-p0330-p0405-p0340. I had put a new map sensor in...

P0340 is for camshaft position sensor circuit malfunction so the problem can be in you hav already changed sensor, then you need to check wiring from sensor to ecu and if the wires are ok than check the ecu! It can be either of them cousing the problem.

My 2004 dodge neon sxt is giving me a p0340 code how do i fix this

A code P0340 could mean one or more of the following has happened:

  • a wire or connector in the circuit could be grounded/shorted/broken
  • the camshaft position sensor may have failed
  • the PCM may have failed
  • there exists an open circuit
  • the crankshaft position sensor may have failed

With a P0340 OBD-II trouble code, diagnosis can be tricky at times. Here are some things to try:

  • Visually inspect all the wiring and connectors in the circuit
  • Check for continuity in the circuit wiring
  • Check the operation (voltage) of the camshaft position sensor
  • Replace the camshaft position sensor as required
  • Check the crankshaft position circuit as well
  • Replace circuit wiring and/or connectors as required
  • Diagnose/replace the PCM as required

Hope this is for any assistance.

For what sensor is the code po340 on a dodge neon 04 and how i change.

Hi,
This indicates that a problem was detected in the camshaft position sensor circuit. Since it says circuit, that means the problem could lie in any part of the circuit - the sensor itself, the wiring, or the PCM. Don't just replace the CPS (camshaft position sensor) and think that will definitely fix it.

Thanks.
