Honda crx with auto transmission idles roughly in drive or reverse. AC on makes it worse.

There are two coolant lines that connect to this Honda IAC to help quiet the operation of the valve. The part number for a OBDI 1992-1995 Honda Civic Idle Air Controller is 36450-P28-A01. While the OBDII version of this valve is 36450-P2J-J01, and the two units are very similar in design and execution. The EACV or Electronic Air Control Valve is a big part of maintaining your Honda Civic idle. If you've checked your IAC and your Honda still suffers from a surging idle, check your FITV. This Honda Idle Air Controller or IAC is under the throttle body and incorporates into the throttle body passages o locate your Fast Idle Thermo Valve, remove the intake snorkel and locate the FITV beneath your throttle body opening. If your SOHC engine is still having problems, check our guides above on how to check your FITV as well as your IAC. To check this operation, remove your air intake pipe and use your fingers to plug the passages in the lower left hand corner of your throttle body opening. If your idle surge does not go away, unplug your Idle Air Control valve and if that stops your idle surge, your IACV must be replaced. Follow our instructions on how to replace your Honda Civic Idle Air Control Valve. Need to raise your Honda Civic idle or having problems maintaining idle? You can adjust the base idle by unscrewing or screwing in the Idle screw on your throttle body. This screw allows air to bleed into the passages on the backside of your throttle body, as shown above. To learn how to adjust Honda Civic idle speed, you will not need to remove anything. With a standard screwdriver, simply locate your throttle body and Idle screw.

Idle goes from 1000 rpm to 1800 rpm shortly after cold or warm start. Replaced the idle air control, no fix there. There is no bleed valve for the cooling system.

For the engine RPM problem, you probably have a vacuum leak (cracked hose, bad PCV valve, intake plenum or manifold gasket, leaking brake vacuum booster, etc.).

Some Honda engines are not equipped with bleed valves for the cooling system. If you would like to know if yours was originally equipped with one and where it is located, you will need to say which engine your Honda is equipped with.

The car stops immediately after i turn on the AC

The problem might be with the Idle Air Control valve. This component is mounted on the throttle body and as its name implies it contols the engine idle speed anytime the accelerator is released.

One thing to try is to have the IAC valve removed and with a throttle body cleaner, clean the IAC valve and the idle air bleed port on the throttle body. If doing this shows no improvement with the idle, then the IAC valve may require replacement.

1992 Honda Accord wont start when cold out Fires but wont stay running

this could possibly be an iac or idle air control valve issue. the iac valve controls the amount of air that bypasses the throttle body in order to maintain proper idle, and is mounted on or very near the throttle body on the intake manifold. check the connector to ensure it's tight and the connections are clean, not corroded. i'd recommend replacing the iac valve.

Why would my 1995 honda accord be idling?

Hi,
There are two valves that control air flow to the engine and can affect idle:

IAC Valve: (Idle Air Control) this is a $220.00 valve that bolts
onto the throttle body. It consists of an electrical motor and a
plunger that moves in response to a computer on the vehicle someplace.
There are great instructions in the "Hanes" manual on how to test this
part.

FITV: (Fast Idle Thermo Valve) this one costs $55.00. This little
puppy is not electrical defendant. It is a "thermo" switch. There is
a wax plunger that expands when warm and shrinks when cold. When the
engine is cold, the valve is completely open, increasing the air flow
to the engine to warm it up faster. As the engine warms, the plunger
expands and lets less air into the engine to slow down the idle.

One (AIC) is bolted to the back of the throttle body close to the wall of the dashboard. The other one (FITV) is bolted to the BOTTOM of the throttle body. Each one of these valves can be removed and tested and CLEANED WITH THROTTLE BODY SPRAY. Always clean before buying a new valve.

Sometimes the IAC valve may not have problems. You should take it off and
clean it. Then take off the Fast Idle Thermo Valve and took it
apart to clean it. I discovered that the entire inside is supposed to
be screwed into place on the assembly. Apparently the center/core of
the valve has slowly, over time, juggled out and the air was leaking
through regardless of what the little plunger was doing.

have you replaced the IAC valve, if not you need to check it to make sure it is not defective, also you may have a vacuum leak in the intake system
