It's probably one of two things , a vacum leak or a bad ground.

Vechile excelerates on its own the only way to get the idle to come down is shut the car off. I have changed the TPS sensor and still no change

sounds like you may have a vacume leak causing high idle(hose or an intake gasket) or the idle air control motor is not closing to its proper position to allow correct idle.possibly the throttle may not be return all the way to its rest position.

1998 chevy k1500 vortec 305, high idle, surges a lil bit, new plugs cap and rotor, coolant temp sensor, any suggestions, bad tps cause this, or intake leak confused help, love the truck, runs rich i can...

TPS probably not cause surging idle. Could be IAC motor, could be MAF sensor. If you dont have a check engine light I would be thinking IAC motor.

99 mercury sable automatic trans vehicle idles very low randomly even stalls out sometimes high idle occurs as well reaches about 4000 rpm at times. engine light threw 4 codes, all to do with o2 sensors...

Sounds like a broken or torn vacum hose, pcv valve clogged, or bad Idle air control motor. Did you spray carb cleaner on vacum hoses or near the plastic intake., and did the motor rev up or down? Those codes represent a lean condition which means most like a vacum leak or clogged idle air motor. Sometimes the intake manifolds crack or the intake manifold gaskets crack. FInd that vacum leak or inpect iac motor

My 99 suburban idles at 1000 rpm in park with a new TPS at operating temp. What is the factory idle setting? how do I adjust rpm?

There no adjustment for idle, control by computer, TPS reading should be .50 volt's, you could have a vacum leak, check vacum line and check for vacum leak at base of intake manifold.

1996 Saturn dbl overhead cam -idle is extremely high -turned down idle screw all the way -still revs -help!

you should not mess with idle screw, you are changing tps values, computer controls idle, check for vacum leaks, may be a hose or intake gasket.
