You may need a new wiring harness. They have to be ordered from Germany. This is my guess. (I am having a similar issue with my '94; rough idle, #4 cylinder not firing intermittantly, replaced plugs and 8 ignition coils; new harness is my mechanics guess)

cheers and buena suerte

Random missfire

I hope you used AC Delco plugs. Make sure the spark plug gaps are correct. Also, make sure you torque the spark plugs to manufacturer's specification. This would be a good start. Scott

i would definately replace the coil. pretty certain that will solve your problem. do not drive with misfire or that can cause fruther damage such as catalyst failing, which is prety expensive.

Cylinder number one stops firing, and black smoke comes out of the exhaust. I replaced the coil pack and spark plugs. when i unplug battery and reset the faults, it drives fine for a couple days. what...

honestly it sounds like you have a bad computer. there is a constant 12 volts going to each fuel injector and the computer momentarily grounds each fuel injector to activate, the black smoke is from too much gasoline and the missfire is probably from the injector either hanging open or being held open electricaly. next time it starts to missfire on number 1 cylinder try taking a stethiscope or long screw driver and put it on #1 fuel injector with the engine running and see if you hear a clicking sound. If not try unplugging the #1 Fuel injector. this won't fix the missfire but you can see if the black smoke clears up. if the smoke doesn't clear up with the injector unplugged and you are sure its # 1 cylinder thats missing, replace #1 fuel injector.

Missfire

This issue may be cause by a restricted catalytic converter on that side of the vehicle and quite possibly will only affect one cylinder. The other option is a vacuum leak around that particular cylinder.I have seen the converters cause this a few times. Why it's only one cylinder it affects is beyond me logically speaking it should affect the whole bank on that side sometimes it does affect multiple cylinders on the same bank.I guess it may just depend on how restricted it is.

That is a code for the secondary (spark) circuit on cylinder number 3. It is usually caused by a bad connection between the coil and the plug (take the coil off the plug and check for moisture in the boot). If not, it might be a bad coil...
